Got too much time on my hands.....Directional schools (a real bane of TGT) in state of NC:

North--------22 schools
Northeast---2 schools
Northern-----3 schools
Northside----2 schools
Northwest----3 schools
Northwood---1 school

South-----18 schools
Southern--6 schools
Southwest-4 schools
Southeast-3 schools
Southside--1 school

East------17 schools
Eastern---4 schools

West-------18 schools
Western----3 schools
Westover---1 school

Don't think I'm missing any......sometimes posters will talk about their school, like saying East or West or whatever...and the rest of don't have a clue which school they are posting about.....If one of your schools is a compass school....please give us the full name....That is all......lol...............

To post a little more about compass schools....Guilford county is an example....all the points of the compass are used...There is a Northern, Northeast, Eastern, Southeast, Southern, Southwest, Western, and a Northwest..Any more schools and I guess they will be called South by Southeast, North by Northwest, etc....lol......

Even tho we are a compass point school, we are always referred to as ....
SWO

Proud graduate of SouthEastern Rockingham Senior High School. SERSHS. Perhaps a new mascot is in order. The Lights. Sersh Lights.

There's be no doubt ... a West vs. a West in the playoffs. GO WEST!!

Northeast could be McLeansville, Southern could be Sumner, Northwest could be Stokesdale, Eastern could be Gibsonville, Northern could be Summerfield ... not sure what to do with Southwest and Western though.

Now this is a fun thing to think about... So... for Davidson County. Some of these were high schools before the original consolidation:

North Davidson = Welcome High School (although most people don’t know that the Midway Township (not town) touches the middle school campus on Critcher Drive.

Ledford = Sits in the Friendship Elementary district, but the closest community still fully involved gets the nod. Hasty High School

East Davidson = Fairgrove High (you could go with Pilot High, but not quite as close)

Central Davidson = Southmont High (although. High Rock High would have been pretty cool)

West Davidson = Tyro High School

South Davidson = I know people want to go with Denton here... But the school is a little closer to SV, so i say, Silver Valley High School

Oak Grove = confusing... Winston-Salem address, yet a Thomasville phone number exchange... sits on the eastern edge of the Midway township... I don’t like using Midway High, since there is already one of those... But since Oak Grove was the most local one room schoolhouse closest to the old Long Farm that the current school plant is located on, we’ll just have to keep this one as Oak Grove High School

I was told by an old timer that east Lincoln, West lincoln and north lincoln were named as such as to keep the prestige of lincolnton alive in all of the schools. Lincolnton didn’t want anybody to forget what the most important part of the county was. Kinda ironic know a days.

Western Guilford was known as Guilford High School until 1970 so there you go with that.....SW Guilford, hmm..maybe Colfax?? actually it's closer to High Point...................

It’s interesting that Ledford is really in Wallburg, however, many of the kids in Wallburg now go to Oak Grove.

Most of the students that currently attend Southwest Guilford , which was built in 1979, would have attended Allen Jay High School, with a smattering of Sumner High School students. Sumner High is now known as Southern Guilford.
P.S. The students that reside in Colfax attend Northwest Guilford.

There is only a town of Wallburg, there is no Wallburg township. Ledford is not in Wallburg.

Ledford is just as close to Hasty as it is to Wallburg.
But you are right, many many Wallburg kids do go to Oak Grove. There are also a fair amount of Wallburg kids who go to Ledford.

Ledford is actually in the Wallburg community. The welcome to Wallburg sign is at Abbott’s Creek on 109, south of the school. If you read the Lexington Dispatch, any sporting event at Ledford starts off with being based in Wallburg. Ledford’s sports twitter page also states the school is based in Wallburg.

They say it, but it isn’t the case. They say Oak Grove is in Midway, but it isn’t. It’s a mile and a half outside of the town limits. Kind of like Ledford is about that same mileage south of Wallburg town limits.

But. I was wrong about the distance from Ledford to surrounding schools. Wallburg is 1.2 miles closer to Ledford than Hasty.

Also, it’s important to note, as I know you are aware, that there are quite a few Oak Grove kids whose route to school in the morning take them right by either Ledford Middle or Ledford High. That is very confusing to a lot of people.

True, but I would generally say Oak Grove is in the Midway community and Ledford is in the Wallburg. Even though that being said OG has a Winston address and Ledford has a Thomasville haha

I have issues with Northern Nash and Nash Central being MAYBE three miles apart. Being that close, it seems like they are both the same. And then, Southern Nash is 20 miles from Nash Central. North Central is probably right lol.

Western Guilford , formally known as Guilford High School, was opened in the Fall of 1968.
P.S. Hoping you and yours are well, Sir.

Before Mister Stewart arrived at Crest, he plied his trade at Kinston, and after departing Crest, he matriculated to Orange High in Hillsborough. The last I heard he still resides there.
