First Draft of New Conferences

I like Thomasville’s all 3A conference, though may be hard getting that many quality non-conference games in football. Be interesting to see if they go for relatively easy wins or strength of schedule.

It needs to get finalized so teams can find non-conference games especially for fall sports.

I believe it’s going to be chaotic finding games for some schools that have 3 or more football games to find.

Glad you’re happy with it sir…
I’m sorta confused as to the split ER ended up in myself…
But we shall see…

Luckily our conference will only need to find 2 each

I fully expected that your team would be in it too. And may yet. Though my team is not competitive with ER right now, at least I know it’s a class bunch. Folks like the High Point schools bring out the worst in our kids.

Looks like the good old Western Highlands is back. I like it, Hendersonville and Polk will definitely stir things up.
I enjoyed watching some of those games the WHC had to offer. Back about 10-15 years ago those Polk/Hendo, Mitchell/Polk, Hendo/Heritage. That was some good stuff. Maybe it can back to that

I agree but It probably won't happen, Forbush's AD is on the state committee and they've hated the conferences they've been in since 2013. They've wanted to be with the Wilkes/Ashe/Starmount pack ever since then, they won't give it up that easily without a challenge. And to be honest I don't wanna see it happen and get stuck in a joke of a piedmont based conference again like how North Stokes sabotaged the NW 2A/1A in 2012.

If there is a push to even the #'s out, moving Wilkes Central may would work though. Granted if they'd really wanted to fix it they could put Walkertown back in Reidsivllle's conference and bring 2-3 schools over to the Surry conference. Elkin/Starmount could work and we'd have a true old school NW again. The other schools could reform the MVAC or Blue Ridge and the conferences would be near even #'s wise. But they won't do it, it'll be too easy of a fix and they don't ever like that.

Take Walkertown out for someone more in the area and that'd be a perfect conference.

I don't love it but it's better than either a Caldwell/Burke conference or a Forsyth conference for us. It'll be nice to have solid gates during conference time. The Forsyth conference I've seen modeled would hurt our #'s. They don't bring anyone.

I honestly don’t get why the smaller 1 and 2 A schools complain about the numbers. You are talking maybe 100-200 difference in the ADM vs some of the larger 4A schools having over a 1,000 difference in ADM.

The larger classifications facing that big of a gap are really the only ones that have a complaint, imo. A few hundreds vs thousands is small fish.

Because while it is only 1 or 2 hundred students, for some of the 1A's that's a huge hurdle. Apples to oranges. 1800 vs 2000 is not the same as, say, 200 vs 400 or 300 vs 500. The only ones that don't seem to care would be Tarboro and most charters

Look at the gap in the number of kids at the 4A schools? Way bigger deal when you are talking over a 1,000 kids in some cases vs 200.

A couple hundreds is a drop in the bucket.

Ashe with 912 students and Alleghany is with 392 kids (projected in the same conference)
Why do a 2/3/4 split when you don't have to? Seems like politics at work here. The 6 team league will need to find 5 non conference games while all these schools in the 2/3/4 will only need to find 2. Forbush should be in the league with MA / NS / ES /SC/ WS and Walkertown.

Ayden-Grifton (3A)
Beddingfield (3A)
Farmville Central (3A)
Greene Central (3A)
Kinston (3A)
South Lenoir (3A)
Tarboro (2A)

How nice is this for Tarboro? The regular season will actually mean more than it has in 10 years. The Vikings would still be the favorite going in, but these teams are much more competitive than the current bunch.

I hope this conference stays this way. It's really only two games I see that would be blowouts, that's south Lenoir and beddingfield.

Ayden-Grifton
Beddingfield
FarmVille Central
Greene Central
Kinston
South Lenoir
Y'all like that? I get the huge conference upgrade, but the Lenoir County schools seem out of place to me. I guess they fit well for GC and AG and possibly FC. Now that I think about it, maybe it's Tarboro that's out of place. Should have just put us in there. They already have a 2/3/4 conference proposed out west. It'd be great to have SWE and Tarboro in the same conference again. Those last regular season games used to be great.

It’s not like you won’t be seeing us every year anyway. Just be thankful you are still in the running for conference champion after the Function.

Not that I would expect it to be a problem for Tarboro, but wouldn't that conference require you finish in the top 3 to get a conference champ playoff seed as they are the only 2A school?

If this conference does indeed stay the same it'll almost be a throwback to the old Eastern plains conference from 09-12. Just missing SWE. As a BBQ enthusiast, I hope we keep ayden grifton and beddingfield simply for the fact I'll have an excuse to go to the skylight inn and Parker's respectively 🤣

Keepin' teams like Ayden-Grifton and Beddingfield in the mix ain’t just holdin’ onto them rivalries, it lets the fams and the community vibe with them classic matchups. And like you said, them eats at Skylight Inn and Parker's BBQ? Straight fire, no doubt!

It’s been nearly 20 years since Tarboro lost three conference games in a season. That might be a concern for other programs.

The Wayne, Nash, Wilson, and Johnston County conference is overcrowded; You can't put Northern Southern Nash Rocky Mount, Hunt Fike, CB Aycock Southern Wayne, West and South Johnston all in one conference together.

We got a team over here in my area that has to play 8-man football, but have know been accepted into the NCHSAA, will they have to conform to 11 man football now? If so, they may be leaving after a year I can't see them surviving against any 1A school they have to play.
