I've now seen both teams play. I saw Fairmont two weeks ago at Fairmont as they beat my Vikings 56-0. Tornadoes were up 46-0 at the half and could have scored more. At our homecoming game on Friday verses Red Springs, the announcer said that it was 38-0 at the end of the first quarter in the South Columbus and Fairmont game. I was truly blown away that Fairmont had put the game away before the end of the 1st QTR. Was anyone at that game to clarify if it was truly that "out of hand?" Red Springs doesn't seem quite impressive after I have seen them play, especially since we just seemed desperate to win and made a bunch of bonehead plays, but they have a will to win as well. Their defense is the most impressive that I have seen in terms of being overly aggressive, but can they hold Fairmont's fast receivers and stay disciplined against a very dynamic offense? Who wins this showdown in Red Springs on Friday Night? In the meantime, I just hope we can "escape" with a win at South Robeson.

I will take Red Springs in a close one 30 to 27. They have a bull at running back and will need to keep the Fairmont offense off the field. Caulder will put up some offensive numbers, but if they pressure him he can get frustrated as he did against Whiteville. Should be a great game, one of the best ones on Friday night. Good luck against South Rob.

I like the physical play of Red Springs. The big RB only got eleven rushing attempts against Whiteville. He needs the ball 20 times or more in order for Red Springs to win.

I personally have not seen Red Springs play but I did see the video below(this was their last game). I will say they are dynamic and will keep this game very tightly close for sure. specially at home. On the other hand frustration can get to any player but Fairmonts quarterback can just about get out of anything. The kid is very talented and gifted with his quick decision making process. Trust me on this, someone will be open whether it is short or long pass, the target will be there and the QB is always accurately confident.

I hate to keep repeating this but Whiteville is undeniably very beatable. Fairmont/Whiteville game it was all the quarterback for the most part. You have got to have more than a one man star to win it all at the big dance.

The frustration in the whiteville game were the Ref's. They rained us with unnecessary flags. From that point forward it was just about in Fairmonts head. The other issue was the 12 or so missed catches. I wish both teams the very best.

Also, remember that there is a new coach and he is all too familiar with Red Springs.

I see Red Springs Friday night against Fairmont making or attempting a lot of offsides moves.

2009 Fairmont vs Red Springs 26-0
2010 Fairmont vs Red Springs 48-19
2011 Fairmont vs Red Springs 40-34 (OT)
2012 Fairmont vs Red Springs 46-10
2013 Fairmont vs Red Springs 40-0
2014 Fairmont vs Red Springs 61-30

Great write up. Now I will say that unless something very terrible goes wrong with Red Springs in red Springs this game will come to the very end with a close score just like the last (Scotland vs Pinecrest game). Dont forget Fairmonts defense. they are getting better and better each game. That will be the key to this game.

I have talked to a share of people and apparently it's suppose to be a packed house.

Have you watched both teams play 4countyfan?
I have seen both teams play. IMO it should be a really good game. Would give the edge to Red Springs, very physical style of play IMO will give Fairmont trouble. They are good enough on offense to keep the Fairmont offense on the sidelines ,and good enough on defense to get enough stops to win a tight one. Really would love to see be there, but last regular season home game , and Senior night at Whiteville, got to do the family thing.

You do know that Fairmont has a "Be Physical" cry and that they do. So the game, like you said might just be even. The better team wins.

Good luck to both teams. Being totally honest, and I have been around high school football a very long time. This is about as weak a football conference as I can remember. Really don't see anyone making IMO much noise in the playoffs. Hope I'm wrong, just don't see it.

I hope whoever from the surrounding area goes, that they make it far or at least farther than what the fans are guessing at.

Buck 71 I have said over and over this is one of if not the Weakest conf. I ve seen in 35
Years. Some think I don't know what I'm talking about,but it's true.
It could be the superb owl in Red Springs and not many show up,that's sad. These teams deserve better.
Back to the Pack, they will win out in this conf.
May have first 2 at home, but as WTXY said alot of 1 or o loss teams in mountains this year. Pack may be in east this year, but I doubt it. Good luck Strick, pretty good team.

The missed catches were the frustration I was talking about, when Caulder was flushed out of the pocket and receiver dropped an easy pass his body language said it all. If Red Springs gives the big running back 20-25 carries they stay in this game. If he gets 11 as in the Whiteville game, Fairmont wins.

I'm not falling for your instigation attempt. Red Springs will do their very best. The Statement will be determined tonight. It's either Fairmont or Red Springs on a very dry field.

When you look at the schedules, there is only one quality win between them. RS did beat a good Lakewood team 16-14. Fairmont has no quality wins unless you want to count a forfeit from Northside that hung 58 points on them.

True statement Johnny dollar. I agree with you. Under these circumstance they do look great, but at the same time the true test comes during playoffs. That's when they have to prove that they can make a statement. For now I am enjoying the games and spirit.

Whiteville played East Bladen, North Brunswick lost both. I don't think this conf. Has any quality wins.
U have WC,EC,SR have 3 wins between them going into 8 week of play.
I thought SC would come around win few more games but not likely now. But u play who u have to play. That's why non conf. Games matter so much.
