Dang...He was in over his head, , but some staff changes should have helped him. Heard he was fishing for an easier job just south iof Ballantyne.
Got a player at AK close to me. Staff had terrible talent evaluations. kids playing out of position. Practices disorganized. The talent is there for a much better team/record. They got worse as the season progressed, and it wasn't because of injuries. That is very telling.

Moms do not coach this game and you play where the team and coach needs you in HS. That is the problem right there. Principal, players and Moms think they know what is best for a coach that went 12-1 and had a QB coach on that team from the knotts area. Evidently that SMALL defensive line is the best choice the coaches staff had to choose from. Also if the Administration stop letting the teachers pick what assistant coaches the HC gets, maybe they can do a little more evaluation. I am going to quote the great Bill Parcell "you are what you are" Maybe you could have won the Hough game. But as Btango stated, the last 5 or 6 years you average 4 or 5 losses. It is a reason you cannot get over that hump. Quit looking at the HC and start looking inside the school and at the top. You had one great season in BB and have not followed that up!!!I don't know anything about his stint at Indy, and I personally like the man. What is being said about the administration picking coaches does make sense. The Principal thinks he's Bill Belicheck because his nephew plays for the heels, and the State championship baseball coach is in his ear a lot. Still you have to wonder why some of the things happened like they did. The D line last year was weak as water, and they continued to trot the same undersized players out there week in and week out. They seemed to find a DL rotation in the second half vs Harding, and they completely change it up the next week. Thats insanity. They moved a DE inside, and that kid had no desire to play there. Came right out of the kids mom's mouth. He was ineffective there needless to say. You also have to wonder why they platooned rb's, while their DB's consistently got burned or ran over. Maybe it was because of the former Panther db coach and his kid. I could go on and on and on.
If you really paid attention to what I wrote you would understand that I agree with most of what you said. Do you not think parents who are coaches somewhat influence who play..? Do you think maybe their decision can be clouded by maybe trying to get their kid a scholly. .?
Makes perfect sense to me. My only problem was that he didn't overrule some of his assistants personal decisions, but I guess you can't have too much desention in the ranks. The administration has sent a survey on the new coaching search and many have sent scathing replies. Let's see what happens.
Thanks for that explanation. Sounds much better and much better understanding. And yes I am a coach and I defend all coaches, because we all get the same thing. And what you are explaining goes right back to administration. When the hiring of coaches are a lot of community coaches and of parents of the kids that play, that will always be a problem.Maybe you just cant read between the lines so I will say it more bluntly. There were multiple players parents who were coaching at AK. It was daddy ball just like Pop Warner. If you don't believe me...Watch HUDL. You have reading comprehension problems. I never said anything about said player "Stating" anything to me. What I meant is that I was at every practice and every game, because of said player. Who will have his third coach in four years by the way. Maybe you are some football coach, I don't know. What I do know is that some of the brightest, and most successful people in the city of Charlotte, many of whom played college football, some at Ivy league schools agree with me. They are my friends, and have kids that play or played at AK. As stated, I like Evans, but something was amiss over there.
