84 attmpts. Did Erwin even have a run play?

Not sure, I didn't get to go to the game. Last season Ootwehla was the best team we played all season. Their run defense was unreal. I am assuming Erwin just kept it in the air all night.

It was 49-14 at the half. That 2nd half must of been fun to watch.I think Erwin beats Science Hill next week.

It was 49-14 at the half and at one point during the 4th quarter it was 69-32 and the final score ended up being 69-55. That just goes to show you this entire season for Erwin will be dedicated to one thing. No matter what, get Damien Ferguson the passing record. 84 passes in a single game, Asheville high didn't throw 84 passes last season

It was not 69-32. It was 62-55 with 3 minutes left in the game. Get your stats right. Erwin was coming back with a vengeance. We are proud they didn't give up.

ohhh so if it was 69 32 in the 4th qtr was ooletewah playing their subs im guessing? either way the stats are mindboggling . dang 84 passes in one game? im with ahs cougar. ther have been several seasons at acr that we didnt throw that many . when scott conners was coaching id bet we went multiple seasons combined not throwing that many times. congrats to the kid anyway . ive seen him the last 2 seasons against us and he has a really good arm his receivers are very quick. is he being recruited by anyone?

Score stream had it at 69-32 at one point. maybe they had it wrong. Either way it doesn't matter. The "big 3" are a combined 3-6. Reynolds should be the favorite at this point as was predicted by the coaches.

Damien Ferguson threw 84 passes last night. That shatters the North Carolina single game pass attempts record. Nobody else in North Carolina high school football had ever thrown more than 66 passes in a game and he threw 84. That's absolutely insane to throw that many passes in a game.

The average game doean't have that many offensive plays. Never heard of any team on any level throwing that many times. Hope Erwin has lots of receivers to rotate.

AhsCougar, can you just give the kid some credit. Who cares how many attempts he passed for. He completed over 50 passes which is very impressive. CJ Thompson also broke the state record with 365 receiving yards in one game. What makes this more impressive is it was vs a team that is better than anyone in wnc. I watched the video of the game today and Erwin was in this game late. Ootwehla scored with seconds to go to make it look worse but would have been 62-55.

My hats off to the guy, amazing performance by him and the team to come back from the large deficit. Now go ice that arm, next week could be another 60+ attempt night! :):D

Hey I'm giving him credit. My arm hurts just thinking of throwing it 84 times, but that shatters the all time pass attempt record. That game must have lasted 4 hours

is that team better than mountain heritage warrior? they beat u guys worse than ooletewah did? just wondering

Not trying to downplay a tremendous offensive output, but this is 2 weeks in a row that Erwin has been routed in the 1st half and had tons of offense after going down by huge deficits. How much of their 2nd half performance was due to them and how much had to do with the other team just being ready to move on to the next game? Frankly speaking, I don't know of many teams up by 4 or 5 touchdowns at the half who come out guns-a-blazing in the 2nd half, they just want to move on to next week.

Congrats to Erwin for not quitting.

Actually, Erwin's last score to make it 62-55 was with 1:38 left in the game. Ooltewah scored again a little over a minute later to take a 69-55 lead with 28 seconds left.

The Erwin qb is close to the all time wnc passing record, their coach is gonna do his best to get him that record. Erwin has had a great talent at rb the last 3 years and they just refuse to give him carries.

AhsCougar1-You only say that because a lot of people associated with the cougars have been trying their best to get him over there. He wants to stay at Erwin. Besides your new offense is the spread and I believe that's what Erwin does. (just a whole lot better than the cougars do) All kidding aside, I understand why you want this kid. He's a hard worker and a winner. We are lucky to have him. Your team will get better the longer they practice the spread. It just takes time and talent. You have both.

We don't have that much talent I'm afraid to say. A bunch of small guys but they play hard at least

I jokingly said this past year "Poore needs to come to Asheville high and not stay at Erwin to watch Ferguson throw it 45 times a game". Little did I know he would be throwing that much in one half. They still get him involved in the offense, but he is a natural runningback, he's not going to college to be a slot receiver at 5'8".

You are right jumbob, but unfortunately Erwin has not had the luxury of playing a very soft schedule like your team. We play Science Hill, and then at Franklin at ACR the next 3 weeks. I seriously doubt any teams in the state have had a harder stretch of games. I would love to pad the schedule with some teams like Patton, but it is what it is. Heritage is probably the worst team we have played and they are ranked #1 in wnc and a legit title contender in 2A this season. Yes Erwin played terrible that night vs MH. I will be the first to admit that. As for Ootwehla, nobody in wnc would beat them so I knew that was coming. I am not making excuses for Erwin's lack of defense. It is a problem right now but to act they are a bad team because of their record is wrong because on any given night they could beat any team from wnc.

I didn't go to the game but based of what I seen last season they are. Heritage is a great team this year but they are not on that level. That night was the perfect storm for MH. They could no wrong and Erwin played horrible. It is kinda like a few years ago when Erwin killed Asheville and played them a week later and barely won. Sometimes if you catch a good team on a bad night you can have games like Heritage did. As for Ootwehla they are just bigger and more athletic then any team we see in wnc. I used to think Tennessee football was not that good but there are some really good teams over there in 5A and 6A.

i think your probably right warrior. there are some monsters over in tenn. however at the 4a level here in nc theres sum teams that could beat the big tenn teams. just my opinion

Who exactly do you think my team is? If you are insinuating Tuscola, I'm pretty sure their fans will confirm that ain't the case after as much crap as I've giving them (to the point of being warned by the powers that be to stop messing with them or be banned, which I took to heart and stopped).

Let's get real and honest: Mallard Creek and several other teams have played tougher schedules than Erwin and will continue to do so in coming weeks. Ooltewah isn't a championship level team in either state, neither is Science Hill. Neither of those 4A/5A schools would be in the NC title games in 3A or 4A (or 2A if they had to play Shelby).

Ooltewah has already lost a game this year 47-14.... to a Riverdale team that is 1-2 with it's only win being over Ooltewah. (seriously, Ooltewah was beaten by 5 touchdowns already)

Science Hill is 1-1 and coming off of a 32-7 loss last week.

ACR and Franklin are a combined 2-3.

Without wins over Erwin, your competition is 6-5 (good thing MH is undefeated). I mean no disrespect, but thems the facts. Claiming the "toughest schedule" with the best you're playing having already lost by 33 and 25 points in the young season and an overall record of 6-5 doesn't exactly make this schedule seem like a group of amazing juggernauts of football might.

Just saying.....

Love it when people talk about TN football without having a clue and doing more research.Do you even know anything about Riverdale or the schools they lost to.

Very true. I would like to Mallard Creek and Maryville play though.

What is your problem with Erwin. I said they had one of the hardest schedules in the state and definitely the best in wnc. When the worst team we play in the first 6 games is probably Franklin, you know the schedule is pretty brutal. I don't care about records. Reynolds is 1-2 and arguably the best team in WNC. I don't have a problem with you but you bash other teams and kids when you wont even say who you support Jumbob.

He has no clue. He is just a flamer...

10 years ago Erwin's current coach was the head man at Tuscola. He had a freshmen QB named Brosius (maybe you've heard of him) that he refused to start. After a 2-9 campaign he was canned. Next HC made Brosius the starter (no brainier!) and the kids set the all time WNC passing mark. Fast forward 10 years and Erwin coach has a chance for his current QB to overtake Brosius for the all time passing mark. Kind of a "stick it" to Tuscola for canning him in a round about way. With that in mind, I bet the Erwin kid throws it 84 times EVERY week, win lose or draw, so long as he knocks the old ball coaches former player and team off the top of that record board.
