another h.s. web site..."gobigreen" has records of all NC high schools from 1972 until right now...Thought it would be interesting to see how the top 8 play out for the last 47 or 48 years (1972-2019)......couple of the schools listed haven't been playing the whole time......

Shelby 505 Wins 129 losses 5 ties

Reidsville 452 Wins 149 losses 1 tie

Clinton 436 Wins 159 losses 1 tie

Randleman 308 Wins 231 losses 3 ties

Burns 305 Wins 238 losses 3 ties

Hibriten 297 Wins 255 losses 3 ties

Southwest Edgecombe 269 Wins 220 losses (1978-2019)

North Lincoln 78 Wins 119 losses (2003-2019)

Schools are listed by wins.....not by their current ranking..altho Shelby and Reidsville are #1 and #2 in both...……………………..

Very good info rambbq. carolinapreps has a more complete listing of all teams, they even total the columns along with conference including % and all games played by who and score each year. Although both sites dont agree, at lest on SWO. Just a quick comparison and the first year is way off .....looks like carolinapreps is more accurate ...jmo

Thought I would see how SWO compares to the elite 8 . We come in 3rd, a few games behind Reidsville and some behind Shelby.

This is what it looked like:

Shelby -- 466 wins 121 loses 5 ties
Reidsville -- 430 wins 138 loses 1 tie
SWO -- 406 wins 140 loses 0 ties

I did ours from 1976 (our first year) land adjusted the others from the same year. Would be a good time killer for others to do theirs also. I for one would be interested.

I know WRH not in elite 8 , but overall record is 530 wins and 207 losses.

Yea but thats from 1957 on, From 1972 on its 431 wins 159 loses and 3 ties. But it does put you #4 in this comparison for 1972.

That is more like 47 or 48 years. Wish we could have turned the clock back twenty years Sunday morning instead of one hour.

That’s bad ...19 of North Lincoln wins have come from the last two years. If you black out our wins our losses won’t look so bad

Maiden at 416 isn't bad. Old ball coach Tom Brown was responsible for 280 of those.

actually gobiggreen has Maiden since 1972 with 424 wins 158 losses and 5 ties......very impressive......................

Yeah when I pull it up it says 416 through 2018. If you add their 7 wins this year we have 423. Either way it is impressive. A shame we couldn't get any more championships out of it.

Was checking out Gobiggreen.net for us between 2001-2004 they have our record 0-0 every year im guessing thats just a typo maybe just curious if thry left off any games from that total recors mentioned

carolinapreps has most schools listed (if the still exist now) from 1960 to the present.....very important info.........good site as is this one.............

I learned that if a school is closed you can find their record by finding an existing school that played them. Go to the season, click in the closed school and it takes you to their team page.

yeah...that works for some of the schools...for example my Sr. year at Reidsville we played Stedman (first and only time they played) which is now part of Cape Fear HS (I think) but when I clicked on that name (in the season we played them), it only listed a few of the games...not the whole season......still it's a great resource......................

That's how I found my dad's school Allen Jay. Between Southwest and Southern Guilford, AJ was very good in the 40s, 50s and 60s up to 1970.

Consolidation and building new schools killed AJ. They went to the NCHSAA Eastern State title against Ahoskie and never had a winning season after until the school closed in 1978. AJ only had about 300-400 kids playing 2A ball because there were no other 1A schools around.

Allen Jay was around when I was in high school at Reidsville...we never played them...they were a lower classification....but always remembered they had good teams for a small school.....always loved the name...think their nickname was Jaybirds...but I might be wrong................
