JK 62 Spring Creek 0
Wallace 68 Midway 0
Clinton 37 Goldsboro 28
East Duplin open

I know some pegged this conf as a two team race but definitely looking like its more parity in the ECC this year....i really see no head over hills favorite and definitely not a "two" team race.......outside of playing Spring Creek and Midway better bring your A game every week Goldsboro could of definitely beat JK,ED,and Clinton if a few more things would of went their way...Wallace has them next week dont go sleepwalking into it. Next couple weeks should be exciting wouldnt be surprised if we ended up with co champions maybe even a 3 way tie who knows.....and SN hope everyone in Duplin is starting to recover from that storm some things are bigger than football

That's why this conference is one of the top conferences in the state, year in and year out. The conference this year is a 4-way race and very well my come to the last game of the season. Now that the Horses have a month of games left(hopefully without interruption) and regular daily practice again, I think they'll get back into the swing of things fairly quickly.

Aint gonna happen !!

BUT
if it did happen, wouldnt cry any ....but would just say WOW

This Goldsboro team played East Duplin and Clinton pretty tough dont think it would be farfetched to think they could give Wallace a game aswell

Goldsboro really is a few plays and a coach away from being a contender in the East. If they put it all together they could beat several teams. I’ll put it this way I don’t think anybody is going to want to see them or overlook them In playoffs

Whats the # of ECC teams do the conference posters think will make the playoffs this year in small 2A. Goldsboro is lookin at a little worse record than last year. I am assuming WRH, Clinton and JK will get in.

Clinton will be on the bubble of 2A/2AA as their ADM this year is 921, depending on which teams make the playoffs this year in the east.

921?dang werent we in the 840's last year...we usually right there at the cut off 921 sounds like 2AA for us depending on everyone elses numbers.....853 last year

So if thats true looks like ED and Clinton would be 2AA Wallace,JK,Goldsboro 2A....dont think Midway would get in and Spring Creek kinda goes without saying

You think JK and gboro get in? That's what five teams from one conference? Maybe six ?

the problem for the Cougars is they're likely to finish 4th and most likely only 3 teams will go to the playoffs from the conference. I may be wrong, with the split divisions. ED will go @AA so it may leave an opening in 2A

Last season 5 teams made it...ED was the only one that went big 2A...Clinton,Wallace,Goldsboro,and jK all made it in small 2A

With Clinton and ED going big 2A.....Ed,Clinton,Goldsboro,JK,and Wallace all made the playoffs last year

Man have things changed 4th and 5th and 6th place teams make the playoffs. Should throw the split our the window and play just 2A and have one or two teams make it from each conference. 2002 SWO Richlands and ED tied for the conference and drew a straw. SWO didn't make the playoffs with a 10-1 record. Them days are long gone

Think you are a year late 05. The year was 2001. SWO and ED both had a 8-2 record and Richlands was 9-1 going into the last game of regular season. It was a great game between ED and SWO. ED was leading 21-15 and had the ball at the end. SWO was pushing them backwards toward their endzone. With everyone one on the line ED threw a short quick strike over the middle that went all the way. Remember we all hung around after the game and waited on Richlands to get there for the drawing of the straws. Only fitting I guess that Richlands got #1 seed, ED was second, and SWO went to the Basketball court early. I went and watched ED lose to Clinton in the Eastern Finals. Clinton was in another conference that realignment period. Like other teams today they took a lot of heat for being in an easy conference that they walked thru. They went 15-0 beating Cummings in the Title game. We "could have been" contenders Howard ...... :(

Your right brother. In old age, years get confusing LoL. Went to the ED Clinton game as well that year. Clinton had a great team. Man has Richlands fallen on hard times. Those Richlands teams were great

It definitely would be more competitive if they went back to just 4 classifications but NCHSAA not thinking bout that....more teams, more games, more $$$$ i guess

great season!

I really think there should be 5 classifications for football. And it would go a little something like this:
  • Class A: <418 students
  • Class AA: 418-591 students
  • Class AAA: 592-849 students
  • Class AAAA: 850-1579 students
  • Class AAAAA: >1579 Students.
What do y'all think?

Looks good. With last years numbers (770) SWO would be Class AAA . Thats a very large difference in smallest and largest AAAA.

In Missouri they have 6 classes. Class 1-4 are about the same number. Class 5 is smaller and class 6 smaller yet. Class 5 and 6 play 1 less playoff game. My local school is a class 3 and would fit in your class AA. This year we have 510 students. Also redistricting is done every two years.

Playoffs are different also. Regular season (non and conference) count toward District Standing. At the end of the regular season there is a district playoff. 8 teams in a district. Only the top 2 in each district playoff qualify for the playoff for the Class championship. Currently we are tied for 1st in district with 2 games left in regular season.

I wouldn't be opposed to reclassification being done here biennially rather than every 4 years. With the population explosion here in North Carolina and in particular our metro counties(where new 4A high schools seem to be opening every year), there will be enough schools for these classifications.

Your 3a is much too small and 4 A way too large . I think the 1A and 5A should be small with 2A, 3A, 4A about equal in numbers

I know Travel Time has always been a sore point in any changes to conferences and classes. Last week my team here traveled 3 hours one way for the game. It will be probably over 2 this coming week. I think only one away game this year was around 1.2 hours one way. Besides St. Louis, Kansas City and Springfield (most are class 5 & 6) rest are in rural areas which most of Missouri is. They fight consolatation of small schools tooth and nail here. Also we dont have the charter schools here. Other than the 3 big cities just about all students are farm/ranch kids. The school parking lots look like Truck Rodeos ....lol. Even the girls drive pick-ups, wear REAL levis and boots. The major clothing and boot/shoe fashon is pfiwestern.com and of course Bib Overalls. If their pants are saggin its because of the Huge belt buckles .... Totally different culture.

You going to have to face JK big boy. Don't get scared now and try to wish them out of the playoffs. JK going to hit you straight in that big mouth and nothing you can do about it!

LoL look who came out of hiding. Okay if you say so. SWO will be waiting, take SWO lightly if you want to. SWO line is huge and will manhandle JK up and down the field on both sides of the ball. JK will lose to ED WRH again and Clinton. If you make the playoffs good luck
