ECC posters only a month away from the first scrimmages/games being played how do you see things shaping up in the conference this upcoming season

My preseason ranking:
1.East Duplin
2.Wallace Rose-Hill
3.Clinton
4.Goldsboro
5.James Kenan
6.Midway
7.Spring Creek

No brainer conference champ is coming from the top 3 ....expect JK and Goldsboro to be improved but still middle of the road....dont really expect much out of Midway or Spring Creek they will be fighting to stay out the basement

Any other opinions feel free to share

Lol at #5....they have Terrell Valentine a DB/RB from Clinton who is pretty good and another DE/OLB that's suppose to be pretty good outside of that...not much talent around Bowden...he will win them some games but when it comes to playing the ED's and the WRH's they will come up short....one player not beating those teams

Makes it a lot more exciting when JK can be competitive. Hopefully a few more scares this year like Clinton gave WRH last year.

I feel they will be very good but they lost more talent than WRH

I didnt see much on WRH JV last season but cant really tell how good a team will be based off that and it seems they just grow players out there so im sure they will reload.....ED lost alot of seniors but i still think they will be really good Battle seems to have things going good out that way

Got some really good games early in the season that will test WRH, ED, JK, and Clinton. Hard to pick one that looks the most intriguing but that WRH Havelock or WRH Cardinal Gibbons ought to be a classic. The ED Jacksonville game and Clinton East Bladen will be good early non-conference test as well.

The Cape Fear game week 1 should tell us alot about ourselves their suppose to have a pretty solid team again this year......heard a EB poster say EB is going to be young this year

1. Wallace-Rose Hill: Defending 2A champs, lost some key Seniors, but just reload with talent.
2. East Duplin: One play away from winning 2AA championship. Lost a ton of Seniors, but with Head Coach Battle Holley, the Panthers will also be contending for the conference crown.
3. Clinton: The Dark Horses finished 6-6 last year, losing several games by six points or less. Also lost several Seniors, including Quarterback/Safety Chris "Clause" Williams. The Dark Horses return a stable of running backs and most of their defense, to include rising Junior DE/LB and NC State verbal commit Muhammed Kaba. Look for new Head Coach Cory Johnson and staff to bring in a new era of Dark Horse football after the retirement of future Hall of Fame coach Bob Lewis.
4. Goldsboro: RB Xzavior Bowden and Clinton transfer QB/DB Terrell Valentine will be key pieces for a Cougar squad that also finished 6-6 last season, losing in the First Round to SWO.
5. James Kenan: The Tigers finished an uncharacteristic 3-8 last season, but return a good crop of athletes. I think they are at least a year away from returning to the Tigers of old.
6. Spring Creek: The Gators received a rather rude welcome to the 2A ranks last season, and are not yet up to the level of the previous teams. But they will beat Midway this year for the sixth spot.
7. Midway: The Raiders will have a new coach this year and will be loaded with Seniors, but I'm not sure about how the new coach will turn the team around this year. So I'm picking the Raiders to finish last this year.

East Bladen will be younger than usual....but the talent is there. Depends on how early it all clicks.

Yea i wouldnt say ? marks everywhere...only issues really is who will be the QB? And the offensive line with only 2 starters returning.....despite apparently losing 2 good athletes due to grades still have alot of other ball carriers and most of the defense returns with the addition of a D1 caliber DE/OLB

We will find out alot about ourselves that first week like i mention before Cape Fear returns a pretty solid squad....the big RB Boykin gave us fits last year and Jaylen Hudson 6'4 225 ,OLB/FS returns and is definitely a impressive player recently received offers from NC State,Wake,and ECU....if we can come out of that one with a "W" that would do wonders for this teams confidence

Heard he has been involved with alot of the summer activities with the varsity so i would guess he is definitely in the mix for starting QB

Thats a big "If" they will be tough especially at home....May have a freshmen QB leading a new offense and the heat of August a small 2A school having to compete with a school with 3A/4A numbers its tough with so many probably having to go both ways...think that hurt us towards the end of the game last year against them...we had our opportunities thou

I didnt get to any middle school games last year but he has that "hype" when people here start talking bout a kid before he hits high school its usually the real deal....last time i heard this much about a incoming freshman his name was Ryheem Skinner and he turned out to be pretty good lol

WRH still has some really talented backs. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are close to last years level.

they will have speed they always do but I don't think the RB play will be the level of last year JV had a kid by the last name Carroll who was really good probably expect to hear his name....Williams and Newkirk were special

I know they have a guy who is very fast that left JK after 10th grade to go to WRH. Kameron Donaldson. Expect him to be a contributor.

Looks like ED, WRH, and JK will all be at the Northside-JAX jamboree. I expect WRH will be at New Hanover’s as always. Where is Clinton headed? Or just hosting?

Clinton plays in a scrimmage hosted by Lakewood not sure how many teams will be there on Aug 8.....then plays in the Sampson County Jamboree Aug 10th at Clinton

Probably just wishes either the format was different and/or involved other schools. Just a guess though.

I understand it would be nice to get some different schools in there....sorry scrimmaging Hobbton,Union,Midway not really giving you a accurate glimpse of where you are as a team....Lakewood atleast provides somewhat competition

I think in 2008 and 2011 Clinton played in the Cumberland County Jamboree maybe in the future we can get back in that.....atleast the competition would be better

Yes not really easy to tell what you have against those schools.
