I have to ask what happened last night? Andrews is terrible. We beat them in every aspect of the game. I was looking at y'all's record and was thinking ER might be a tough game in 2nd or 3rd round of the playoffs. Was last night a fluke or something else?

Andrews is bad but they have been somewhat competitive in every game besides ours.

Firstly thanks for the Eastern correction. It's ok people often think it's just East.
Andrews plays differently sometimes in Simeon.
Personally I was not at the game but have heard ER had several turnovers that have not been happening earlier in year.
Also think defense did their job as score was 8-0 early on. Not sure what happens rest of year but defense has been consistent. Next couple of games will tell a lot about this team.

Here’s the reality. That conference isn’t very good. Andrews is a ghost of its old self, everybody knows that. eastern Randolph is a decent, not good/great team with an undefeated record because of who they’ve played up to this point. Randleman is a good, not great team. Their record is inflated, just as it has been the last 3-4 years. They aren’t a threat at a title. Not knocking anybody, just being honest.

And last night Andrews should have won the game, but continued to lay some eggs in special teams to give ER good field position, and chance after chance which finally resulted in a winning field goal. ER turnovers weren’t fluke turnovers. One in particular was on a deep pass that an Andrews kid made a helluva play on.

Reidsville scored 50 against Andrews ... but Red Raiders haven't allowed more than 29 against anybody else including a pair of good 3-A teams - Southeast Guilford (6-1) and 4-A Southwest Guilford (5-2).

Those 2 things routinely put the defense in terrible position for success to stop good teams drive after drive on short field. Reidsville is just damn good. Andrews is not good and surely not what people are used to seeing from the red raiders, but capable of beating decent to good teams.

Reidsville is a top 5 team in 2A. If they can run the ball against top level teams (3rd round and beyond), they will be tough to beat.

I don't think Eastern randolph will pose a threat for the championship but the team is much improved from the last decade. Unfortunately the rest of the conference hasn't given much of a challenge but the next few weeks I think will tell the tale of their capabilities. When the offense is clicking they can light up the scoreboard but again they've only shown that against teams that appear to just be terrible.

Distance I usually agree with almost everything you put out on here. And Lord knows I don't ever want to give orange and blue team ANY credit but...

Last year in 2AA they lost in third round to East Duplin 21-13 in a game where I believe they almost scored in final minutes to tie. East Duplin did ok rest of way I believe.


So yeah conference and teams may not be what they once were but maybe they can compete with a lot of other teams...

It seems that ER is close to being back and is having a great year but Randolph county is down and that is not ER fault. Other than Randlaman who else is any good? Wheat more perhaps but the rest of the county is struggling. The Confernce is not as strong this year either but that's not ER's fault they play who is front of them. This past game could have been just a hiccup

To clarify, I’m not saying all these teams are crap on the bottom of shoes, I’m simply saying that Randleman and it’s undefeated record is more indicative of who they’ve played vs them being an undefeated juggernaut, which they are not. I think they are good, but not a threat to win a title. and everybody here knows I think Their staff is among the best in the area. I also think Burton has ER in tremendous position to get close to where they once were over time but this year is a little bit of right place right time/fools gold to a certain extent aided by a very weak schedule. I think most would agree.

Andrews has played a really tough schedule. If they dialed it back a little they would be 500

Andrews has talent in spots but nowhere near the depth they once had as a program. Hell I don’t even think they have a JV team now. They once had between 80-100 kids for football even with 2A numbers. Given the state of the program, I agree they should dial back the schedule a bit.

Said it before, but I’ve always suspected that most of the issues at Andrews can be attributed to the administration’s apparent unwillingness to rely primarily on faculty assistanr coaches.

I won’t bash the head coach Bc I think he’s a good guy, knows the game but doesn’t have the tools and resources around him to be successful like those before him.

I place a ton of blame on the admin and it goes back to the coach search aka lack thereof last year. Following the season, they had 3 head coaches express interest/apply that have coached state championship teams and another who has had his team knocking on the door of a 4a title for a while. I won’t put their names on here because they are on local staffs. But the process never got off the ground as their was a death in the family of the principal of the school that put the interview process on hold and then subsequently canceled interviews and gave the interim coach the job. Condolences to the principal for the loss of his family member, however, no excuse for that to cancel a 5 month process where nothing happened. Shameful the position that athletic program is in right now.

The county and district lines are a whole other issue. Don’t get me started.
