East Wilkes @ Heritage

Different levels of athleticism. Independence played Mt Tabor two weeks ago at Tabor and won 44-0 and looked super athletic. This past week they got beat by fifty some points to Hough. I'm sure Erwin looks athletic against some teams

That could be said for most teams in NC with the exception of the very best. Teams like Hough are more athletic than 95% of teams in NC. Erwin is not in the same class but neither is your team either. To say they are not athletic is silly though. They dropped 56 on a very good Brevard team who will likely beat the team that beat Reidsville last week. Again, I'm not saying Erwin is the most athletic team around. We will not be this week or here on out if we even win Friday. That being said I can promise you we are as athletic or more than most teams in 1A with the exception of maybe Tarboro.

Can't argue with this but most of the time in our area Mt Airy is the most athletic 1a school and it's not close. They always have 2 or 3 players that are burners. Watching them this year about the same

I agree. I've seen some SMC teams beat much faster and athletic teams over the years. Coaching and skill have a lot to do with it. It sounds like Mount Airy has all that. They are one team I've never seen play but I plan to if they play Heritage.

We are 2a but was in the same conference for few years so I've seen them play a lot. New head coach may hurt come crunch time. I know MH coach is really good and has seen it all.

I've seen some amazing teams like the Chris Leak Independence squads and many more. I would like to see Mount Airy too. Dudley vs Hickory would be awesome as well. Guess I'll wait and see who is playing. I can dream that Erwin will be but I'm realistic. We have out hands full this week and if we pull that off we get Dudley! Lol

Our local team West Stokes travels to Monroe Friday. West Stokes has some speed but will be playing against a track team. Speed everywhere

Just look at how West Stokes is gearing up to face Monroe; they may have speed, but going against a team with a reputation for track-like athleticism will definitely test their abilities.

West Stokes held their on against Reidsville until late. I think they'll give Monroe everything they want. Speed doesn't win football games alone.

It's brutal for sure. Funny thing is I haven't really kept up with the east at all because it seems like the West is so loaded that it will decide the championship. I know Havelock is really good but not sure about the rest.

As for all the comments about different topics, personally I don't believe EW has a big line, nor do I believe they have speed(#3 is fastest). We just have kids in the skill positions that love to hit and fight for every extra yard they can get (especially #10, QB)

Looks like EW has a good all around team. This may be the round for upsets

Much like last week, I would like to see EW take this one and get to play one more week. Has East Wilkes ever played in December? It would mean a long trip for the Ronda folks next week though.

I think this one is closer than some think unless the East Wilkes team that plays Elkin every year shows up. If the hard nose grinding EW kids come with intent, I think they can actually pull this one out. They are just hard to guess sometimes. I will go with heart over head and say EW 28-27 with a missed XP deciding the game.

If the other East Wilkes shows up though, it will be a blow out for MH.

So did Heritage look Athletic against Erwin and btw North Rowan is athletic and by far pass the eye test.. now go to Tarboro and tell them they are not athletic when yearly they beat 2a and 3a teams please…Now back to Heritage were they athletic enough to beat Erwin. MH coach Robinson will figure out which areas of EW team has a weak area to capitalize on..MH 38 - 14.

EW will be like looking in a mirror for Heritage. RUN RUN RUN ball control offense. EW a lot of misdirection offense. EW is a very physical team with some big linemen.

Agree but,with MH continuous no huddle offense will EW d line hold up..goodluck to both..seen a lot of fake defense injuries claimed so defense had time to breath so hope refs use their flags nicely!

Don’t think heritage had a negative play? game could have been worse!! #40 for the cards should have been thrown out a couple times . Good luck to heritage going forward

Sounds about right, you watched it on nfhs. You didn’t hear the mouthing from mh to instigate things, late whistles to add fuel to fire too. But hey MH being senior heavy did a great job on a team 85% juniors and sophomores. Go M.A

As for all the bashing EW players and coaches on here. Yes. There was numerous and I mean numerous unnecessary hits, shoves, ball throwing, etc by BOTH teams. Neither is worse than the other. Me personally blame the officials for letting plays drag out so long. Numerous times the whistle never even blew, the kids just got up and went on. When you have 2 teams who fight for every yard and to the whistle and then officials aren't going to stop the play after forward progress, then this is the kind of results you get, not to mention someone hurt. I'm usually not one to bash officials but this was piss poor officiating and I don't mean by calling bad penalties, I literally mean the lack of doing their job.

Again hats off to Heritage for the W. I agree with a Mitchell poster. Heritage doesn't have much size or anything fancy, they will just run right at you. EW didn't come to play and this is the result you get.

Good year for my Cards 10-3. Lose a few (Qb, wr) but the majority of the line and all of the backfield will be returning.

I didn’t advance anywhere as I said in earlier post I don’t have a dog in the fight just a football fan who thought it would be the best game to watch . Sorry my assessment of the game got under your skin guess we know where the cards get it from 😜
