Well, I thought I would start up a thread since no one else is talking about this game. This game should be a good measuring stick for East to see what they are made of and where they could finish in the conference. ND is by far considered the favorite to win the conference and so should be a heavy favorite to win this game. I have a few mixed emotions about this game too since my son is an East JV player/reserve varsity player and I am an ND alum/former player.

East must contain the ND running game and not allow many big plays to hope to have a chance to stay in the game. I know ND's starting RB is very fast and rushed for a lot of yardage last year. I also read where ND's QB has a very good arm and can make all the throws so they can't totally sell out to the run. Also, I know ND has a couple of pretty capable WRs. With all that being said, East has been pretty solid on defense most of the season. They have some good size up front in the interior of the DL and also some pretty good LBs, with one being a 2 year starter and all conference last year.

On offense, East returned 9 starters from last year but started slow the first two games because of injuries. Their starting QB was knocked out for the season with a knee injury in the first game and also one of their starting RBs who also plays some MLB on defense, was out sick the first two games so their offense really struggled. They were forced to move the JV QB up to varsity but so far he has done an admirable job managing the offense. With the starting RB back, their offense has ran the ball very well the last 2 games. I think the key matchup this week is how well the East OL matches up with the ND defensive line. If East can't effectively run the ball and control the clock somewhat, then I don't think they have much of a chance. They do have two very good RBs but if they don't have any blocking then that doesn't matter much. East needs to also be able to mix in some passing to keep the ND defense honest. If they continuously get in long down and distances then they won't have much of a chance to score or stay in the game.

Any ND fans have any thoughts or opinions?

Neutral observer, but picking North 42-14.

East has a nice team and I think they'll finish high in the conference, could possibly beat Ledford. That said, ND will have too much speed for the Eagles to contain. The East D is good but faces a tall task in stopping TJ Boyce, nevermind the WRs that can get loose and burn you if the QB gets the ball there.

North's defense on the other hand will be in the backfield early and often. If you want to beat North, you better pass. The defensive line and linebackers are no joke this year.

North JV really has a lot of talent but whoever the JV coach was apparently trying to run up the score by calling a trick play (hook and ladder) when they were up 27-0 right before the half. Complete lack of class with that play call and trying to rub it in, IMO. Several of the East coaches were mad about that play call with them already having such a big lead and obviously in control of the game. Fortunately, they guy was tackled one the 1 yard line and they didn't score. I've never seen an ND coach do something like that as long I've been a player and fan, completely uncalled for IMO.

I would agree with you but Lexington lost a 31 point lead in the 2nd half this year. Right before the half versus in the 2nd half makes a big difference IMO.

In my opinion, that would be okay, I could see where it would be a little sketchy at end of 2nd half. They may have found a play for future use when needed. I don't have a problem at all with that in the 1st half of a game. Just my .02

I would say for a recent reference, look at Lexington vs. N. Rowan, also UCLA vs. A & M....

With it being just a JV game and not as important as a varsity game, I thought it was unnecessary. I could understand varsity where it means more with playoff seeding and all on the line but not JV.

Eh, it's high school. This isn't middle school with eight minute quarters where 32-0 is a blowout. I'm sorry but boys need to learn at some point that life will deal them a cruel hand. 14-17 seems a most appropriate age to me.

Thanks for the updates BKN, we left near end of 2nd Q, ventured over to West vs. Salisbury, 46-0 Salisbury, if memory serves Me correctly.....Black Knights looked good in every phase, they need to keep working and improving, and DON'T LOSE FOCUS!

Guys, I saw those uni's on highlights last night, all I will say is they were interesting. The score somewhat surprised me, I guess you guys were not.

I expected East, with all that returning experience, to give some resistance. That didn't happen, and it surprised me how easy it was. But that's football, sometimes a snowball turns into an avalanche...

I guess he's saying what everyone has been assuming, that North will fall off and Oak Grove will become the new power in the county and conference... North's JVs look amazing this year though, I don't expect a big fall off for 2-3 years at least...

There won't be a "fall off". Everybody's prediction about ND's demise was crazy from the get go. Just wait and see, and you'll see that I'm right. Everybody's prediction about the Midway community leaving is going to be Waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy wrong!:)

I just can't imagine consistently nailing them 51-0 by half time every year after the adjustment sets in.

We might still blast them but North could have dropped 90 last night if they wanted. I'm sorry but it won't always be that easy.

Sure hard not to be impressed with the defense though!
