Is the Cavs really turning things around this year an will make a good conference showing??

I'm pretty sure they won't do much against Shelby an Crest but everything else looks up in the air as far as being competitive. Good showing against East Rutherford an played strong against Freedom dispite the score.

Thoughts?

Will be a tough out for anyone in 2a, I think they're definitely improved.

I think they are much improved, however their main source of
production is a senior. Ryan is one of the fastest players in
East Burke history but he is a senior. The jv team is weak and athletes are
few and far between there. I'm glad they are doing better this year
but it's probably short lived.

Boy Pats you sure let the air out of that Balloon.... No respect for your in-county brother.

Burns Folks have a lot of respect for EB. We are expecting a real fight Friday...or Thursday ...or Monday. For the first time since week one we should have everyone back and be healthy. They look good on film but I I do think we match up well with them so it should be a real good game. Looking at rosters both sides have the same core guys as last year.

LawnDog - just stating the obvious bro. Has nothing to do with respect.
Since Draughn was started, East Burke has struggled to win - so has Draughn.
This is a known fact in this county. Draughn had 1 year that they were a little
above average.

Yea I know . Sounds like one two many schools have diluted the talent .

Truth be known if it was back to the old EB an draughn was never a thing EB would still be a decent to OK to 5 or 6 win season against teams around here but would fall flat come playoff time 1st round if it was a 4a again. Sorta like South Caldwell. South would beat EB most likely this year even if they borrowed 10 or 12 of draughns best making it like an old 4a EB. Freedom would win Fat Friday just as easily an without borrowing any Patton boys. That's how things would look this year.

Shatley an a few players made that a once in a lifetime team in 07' an a little in 08'

I do think this years EB team being 2a at least can be competitive. I wouldn't write em' off for Friday night against Burns by no means. Should be a much closer game than usual against these 2 teams.

I agree. Burns isn't the same team as 3 or 4 yrs ago.

Yes as of now it is. looking at the radar maybe this mess clears out in time.

Think Burns wins a nail biter tonight. Weather should limit EBs passing game. But the old combined 4A EB would handle S Caldwell easily this year. Basically did as is at the end of the jamboree til Cavs put their 2nd string in

The rain probably limits East Burke more than Burns. If E Burke is
able to throw the ball they have a good chance in this game. Best
wishes for Burns, but must pull for our in county boys.

Our QB can throw too, it's just a matter of if our OL will give him a chance to and if our receivers can catch the ball if he does get that chance.

Great Win for East Burke! Wasn't there but heard Burns defense could
not stop RB.

Congrats to East Burke. I will be the first to brag on my team and the first to humbly accept defeat. Yes, #2 ran all over us...no question about it. We had more trouble stopping him than we did BJ last year. He was pretty much a one man show. The EB QB could not hit the broad side of a barn last night but why should he. The game turned on 3rd and 9 East Burke. Our DB intercepts the ball at midfield and looks like a pic 6 but with one player to beat but then fumbles the ball back to EB...for a First down. We were up 4 and would have most likely scored again....just how our luck has gone this year...and once again we get banged up all over the place. On a positive note our QB thru the ball well and Burris/Hill ran well but we had no answer for #2...and that was the difference. Lord willing, we can eek out a win vs. a rested East R team. If there has ever been a must win for the Dogs this is it.

Good luck to East Burke the rest of the way.

Bulldogs had no answer for Brandon Clark, 207 yards for FIVE touchdowns. And we had several injuries. We're going to be thin going in to the East Rutherford game. The thing is, the offense showed up tonight, but our defense let us down. We were hurt by injuries and a fumbled interception early in the second half when we led 19-16. Momentum swung back to the Cavaliers for good after that fumbled interception, even after we cut it to 30-27. Tom Brown went for 2 every single time and got it almost every time. I can't blame him for that, Matt Beam did that a lot when he was here. Bulldogs will be decimated for East Rutherford and it doesn't help they will have had 2 weeks off and we will have had 3 days off but I know the players we will have will give it 110%. Next man up!
