I watched some of the East vs Burns game tonight and I was very impressed with East. They seem to have it going now and should be a good game at Shelby Friday night.

East scoring 44 last night was pretty impressive.
Them getting pounded out by Freedom is pretty unimpressive, however, they are a much improved team. I am not surprised that they beat Burns, and they will be a tough out for any 2a team.

LA we only beat Freedom by 12 and we were at full strength. You have been building EB up for awhile and this could be a tough one.

Freedom beat them 46-12, however, I agree with you, big homie. This game will be more competitive than some think. We're banged up, and we have missed Camp ever since he's been injured. He's one of the best offensive players in state with his duel threat ability, as a running back and receiver. That young man's field vision and fluidity in his moves is uncanny.

I don't believe the Freedom/E Burke game is a true look at E Burke's
improvement. I think there is a bit of in county intimidation that plays
a part in this game. E Burke is much improved, but still just barely
above average. As for us, we have played one team that is truly
good, and lost. I will not be satisfied until we have defeated
South and Watauga with the ease as others.

42-21 on a wet field, 55-21 on a dry field. Probably the former.

I don't imagine that E. Burke will be able to hang with us, but they seem to be getting strong, and we've had a couple of really sloppy weeks in a row. It could be close.

No 2A team in the state can hang with us.....Monroe could possibly make things interesting.

We take this by as much as we want....and Lee and Co. may have there stats limited again by only playing a half of football.

I remember last yer when East Burke's JV team had a chance to beat us but threw a interception in the end zone. They had some good looking players on that team.Lee and Co. must play better or it will be a dog fight.

Really? We'll have five td passes in first half !!!

I still hold a grudge against ol ball coach for his stunt in 2000 coaching Maiden so I say if we can score 100 lets do it

Ok kidding about score not grudge lol

Ok kidding on that too... Stand by five tds passing first half ,two for borders and two for wright and one for someone else ! Make it happen boys make ol Shelby Lion prophetic ! ( not pathetic I can do that all on my own) ha ha

Funny thing is that year Maiden had a really good team and had a shot at beating Shelby.

I would like to see the point spread first..... also, is the QB at Shelby related to Travis Lee? I saw the SP-Shelby game, he is a big kid.

I think East Burke will have some success running the ball against Shelby but as someone said above, they will not be able to score at the same pace. Shelby will pull away in the 2nd half for the win.

The one other good player they have, #15, went out of the game with a bruised rib. If he is available EB could hang around a little longer. Coach Ware was at the game so he saw them first hand in live action so Im sure he will have them ready.

Looks like it will be a Monday game if all these forecasts happen.Probably Monday for everybody.

If i was Shelby i would not sleep on East. Brandon Clark is the 2nd best RB in our confer and not far behind Tre. If 15 plays , it really puts a defense in a bind trying to stop both they also have a good passing game . Run Run run then catch you trying to stop the run. Now with that said Shelby will pass all over East . They give up 32 a game

It's football....you play football in the rain!
I agree with that 98. This Friday may be a different animal all together. If what the mets are saying we could have flooding conditions and I would be concerned about road safety in some areas. For example...N. Lafayette between Lawndale and Shelby floods out a lot.

A year or two ago, A Captain and I rode up to the bridge there where you are talking about.. The water from the creek was within an inch or two from overrunning the bridge... Cool to see, however dangerous... They've since replaced bridge, but that's still a bad area when it rains a lot...All funneling to that one low spot

Our understanding is this was the Burke Co Super's call because a State of Emergency had been issued for Burke Co. I know in our case, both coaches wanted to play. Probably the same with EB-Shelby.
