Tonight, I’m proud to be a native Duplin Co resident! Proud of all 3 teams! Very happy for E.Duplin and Coach Battle Holley, after years of good we’ll deserving teams, you guys finally made it, Way to Go PANTHERS!
My next door neighbor plays for N.Duplin. He is a senior starter. For four years I’ve watched this kid and his friends struggle thru 3 previous tough seasons, now there playing THE BIG game! Go REBELS!
And last, but not least, my home town boys and alumni Wallace-Rose Hill! I was a part of the 1994 team that were the first to go and win a State title (not only in football but any sport). Back then I would never in my wildest dreams thought I would ever see my home team play for a 4th straight state title. You guys have over come a lot this season. Moving up a classification, hit hard by graduation, new head coach, etc... but you made it back! Way to go BULLDOGS!
In closing let me say, we may be Bulldogs, Panthers and Rebels but this week we are all Duplinites! We may be rivals and fight amongst ourselves but let’s put the rivalrys behind us this week and rally behind each other. JK folks, I invite y’all to join us. We got something special this year, not only are we all playing for individual school pride, but this is for county pride, DUPLIN COUNTY PRIDE!
We need each other’s support. One more game and we all three have tough opponents next week. LETS GO DuCo!
Three teams playing in the State Championships the same weekend, not bad for a rural county full of hog and poultry farms! We’ve already made history, now let’s make more! Roll on Big Orange, Big Blue and Big Green!
