in Grimsley- Rolesville game, on a pass play, Rolesville is flagged for defensive holding. Subsequently, scrambling Grimsley QB is way out of pocket and throws ball while straddling goal line under heavy pressure. He is flagged for intentional grounding.

Ruling: offsetting penalties
Question #1: Doesn’t defensive holding in part cause intentional grounding?
Question #2: is not intentional grounding in end zone an automatic safety?
Question #3 isn’t pass outside of pocket out of bounds, i.e., a throwaway just an incomplete pass?

1. Yes but don't think it matters...rules r rules
2. Yes but the defensive penalty making the penalties offset makes it like intentional grounding never happened at all. Also i was at game and on replay on jumbotron it appeared he released the ball at 1 yard line...and after ball releases he got knocked backwards into the endzone.
3. You are correct if ball gets past line of scrimmage...it appeared at least 3 yards short of line of scrimmage
