Dixon vs SWO 10/16

Well Dixon got their first win of this season with a 56-24 whoopin of winless Pender. Lee had 5 tds for Dixon as the Bulldogs put up over 400 yards on the ground. Meanwhile at South West, Jordan had 5 tds for the Stallions as we rolled up over 300 yards on the ground, but in fairness it was almost all in the first quarter and half. After that SWO did heavy subbing starting in the 2nd qtr. SWO played 9 different runners and they scored 3 times.

Bottom line is Dixon wont fair as good against the Orange Crush Defense led by Senior D. Green (Okla. commit) who had 5 sacks and numerous stops behind the line. Green also rode the bench midway thru the 2nd qtr.

If by chance Dixon can substain some drives and score they might hang within 28 of the Stallions, but I doubt it. SWO cant take the night off or overlook Dixon to the upcoming game against Richlands the 19th.

Again players to watch in the game are Green on defense and running Jordan for SWO. Along with his 246 yards and 5 TDs rushing he also returned the first punt by Lejeune 74 yards and was just a hair short of scoring on that one.

Lots of big hits and thrilling runs by the Stallions.

SWO goes 6-2 and 3-0 in the conference

Just another practice for SWO getting ready for the playoffs.

A little history on Dixon Bulldogs .... Been bad blood between the two since the 1981 game. SWO, according to all in Holly Ridge ran the score up on em 85-0. They did rebound and beat us in 82 tho.

Looking at their total history they have had "ONE" over .500 season in 61 years. Looks like so far this will be #62 for em.

Will probably be able to just cut and paste from the previous two games with EC and Lej.

Something like this:
Handoff/pitch to Jordan (sometimes Dugan or a Pass).....Touchdown SWO
Four and out/turnover for (insert Dixon vice other two teams)

SWO a Monster under the Beds of the Coastal 8. No we dont like being here but thats where we were put.

81 game was a mess. All week dixon coach talked smack and even a few pushing matches broke out before and after the game. Dixon wouldn't allow SWO to use visitors locker room before the game or at halftime

Dont remember the year but SWO visited Dixon. Before the game started Dixon rolled out a HUGE statue of a Bulldog that stat between the field and the school. It even had eyes that glowed RED ....LOL. There was a lot of Hoop La and cheering in Holly Ridge. The festivities were short lived as shortly after the game started they were on the wrong end of the Ugly Stick (again) as the Stallions beat em bad. I wonder if that statue is still there ? Maybe Billy and Melvin will mention it or another SWO poster that attends the game.

Just saw where Jordan for SWO has his 1000 already. He stands at 1015 yards and 15 Touchdowns going into Tuesdays game with Dixon.

Two other Tuesday night games. Also in the Coastal 8 conferernce Richlands plays Trask and Lejeune has Pender. Both Pender and Lejeune are winless so far.

This post just made me feel old. Could be outing myself here but no big deal. I was a correspondent for the Daily News back in 1982 and covered that game. Dixon won 28-16 after trailing 16-0 at halftime. It was a shocking result considering the 85-0 game the year before.

Back then, Dixon had a pretty decent quarterback in Henry Rochelle, who went on to play baseball at Campbell. The clincher in the game came when Rochelle threw an 81-yard touchdown pass to Donnie Gagnon.

Wow, that was a long time ago.
