Did NCHSSA Change Playoff berths and seeding for 2016-2017

Playoff Berths/Qualifications/Seeding

• 1 year pilot for all sports

Seeding

ª Automatic qualifiers

• 1st place in a straight conference

• 1st place in each classification of a split

conference

ª At-large qualifiers

• Best 10-game winning percentage of

all non-automatic qualifiers

ª Once the 64 team have been determined

• Divide into 4 groups of 16 based upon the

longitude of the school

. East, Mideast, Midwest, West

ª Seeding

• Seed all conference champions by 10-

game record

• Then, seed all at-large teams by 10-game

record

ª 1 East vs 16 Mideast, 1 West vs 16 Midwest, Etc

From what I heard this week, there will be much further travel in the early rounds than there has been recently. Too many schools around here at least, were playing the same team in the first round that they had played in Week 11.

Yeah that goes in effect this year.

I like conference foes not having to face off in first round (not just football, all sports), this seems to solve that.
