Page drops two spots in the ratings after a 48pt shutout win.. who cares, we will have to line up and play whoever regardless....
Unfortunately, we have to care because Maxpreps is being used for seeding purposes. But, that's the beautiful thing about the playoffs. You're right. Each team has to line up and play against the team they're scheduled to play. Unfortunately, Maxpreps will go a long way in determining whether a team plays at home or not.
Absolutely! Each round will be seeded according to Maxpreps ranking.
Once the qualifying teams in each classification are determined, they will be divided into two regions of equal size (East and West) based on the longitude of each school. The teams in each region will be seeded as follows:
Seed all 1st place automatic berths and highest finishing team in each classification of a split conference by MaxPreps ranking (or other NCHSAA selected ranking system); then
Seed all 2nd place automatic berths by MaxPreps ranking (or other NCHSAA selected ranking system); then
Seed all 3rd place automatic berths by MaxPreps ranking (or other NCHSAA selected ranking system); then
Seed all conference tournament champions and at-large berths by MaxPreps ranking (or other NCHSAA selected ranking system
Notice there is no mention of record here. Just ranking by Maxpreps for each group of automatic berths.
Amazing... whose bright idea was it to use the broken rating system, there are so many better ones out there...
With there being less teams in 4A, the line has seemed to shift west, yes.

i guess with maxpreps they saw it as a rating system that was unbiased? i mean correct me if im wrong, as i haven't kept up with hs football ratings systems.
there was one back years ago that was run by a math teacher out of Fuquay-Varina, but i think he was originally from ohio.. it seemed he did it for the love of hs football and just crunching numbers, with no bias.. does anyone remember the name of that rating system? he since took the website down, i think? maybe there is a way to go back at those numbers.

I really like this post! It just goes to prove my point of the Fraud of a Website that Maxpreps has morphed into... when losing is put above winning and past success of 6yrs ago under Riley Ferguson is still part of the computer process. Glenn is ranked ahead of West too???? But it will all come out of the wash Nov 3rd
Part of it will come out this week when Butler plays Garinger. So, that may help WF regarding strength of schedule. Glenn is also 9-0. I think you need to understand something other posters have mentioned. West doesn't play the most challenging schedule. They may be 9-0, but that schedule hurts them.
As flawed as Maxpreps may be. It will not prevent a team from winning a game, they should win. Stop crying and get ready.

I have never seen a statement from MaxPreps that states there is any emphasis used placed on past history of a team. They may but I do not think that is one of their ranking parameters. Strength of schedule seems to be a huge component.
As always you are correct Btango. The team in question, West Forsyth schedule speaks volumes of why Maxpreps puts a huge emphasis on strength of schedule.
