Corvian won. Ain’t no crickets just getting home. I’m sure Chute or msg will write up what happened in the game. I don’t do that.
Nor do any of us make excuses. ER turned ball over in first half four times. Two touchdowns for Corvian were a direct result of that. Second half they actually had some long runs which resulted in TDs. Their teenagers won. ER’s fell short.
An undefeated five seed beat an undefeated four seed.

It looks like Corvian will stay with the 2As next year if they keep pulling football players from the 4A Charlotte teams. Seems they came from nowhere this year. They did lose to North Rowan last year 49-34 in the 2nd round. Mount Airy will have it's problems at the bottom 9 ADM of 3A next year.

One fumble was a great hit by the safety… defense inflicted. The second was a clear (taught) strip by the other DB… defense inflicted.

Several of those (all of the seniors but 2) kids were there as freshmen… and didn’t even have football. Ok I don’t know you and you are definitely new here. Quite frankly it looked from afar like the RB was actually down on both fumbles, or at least the ground caused both. Also both came after 20 yard runs. Game would have been waaaay different without turnovers. But that’s the way it happened. Good luck next week. Not sure you will get as many of those as you did last night.
Right now, the WHC is so bad that 1) it gave Mitchell some false hope over some wins in league play, 2) didn’t prepare them at all for any type of competition in the playoffs.

If the NCHSAA or State Legislature really wanted to do what’s right; I have an idea. When making classifications 1A-8A let’s put all charters and private schools in the NCHSAA into 1a and 2a and subdivide them out based on ADM and let them compete for state titles amongst themselves. I totally believe that traditional schools should be competing amongst themselves. Regardless of politics and why charters schools are so prominent now the state legislature sees a clear avenue to educating students without having the burden of pay/insurance/ retirement for the teaching. The line in the budget is thinning out.
At the end of the day when you have charters with students from multiple zones and multiple counties competing at one school they shouldn’t be competing against traditional schools regardless of winning or losing. Finally, it’s really hard to believe that the lottery system at some places works so well to stack some athletic teams. Good luck to all moving forward.

I had no clue who they were either until I saw their film oh my! They have two DE's that are D1's. They have great speed and also have good size. Mitchell has tradition and little as that might seem, playing hard will get you over. I think Mitchell will win this game because of the stronger cause. Corvian had several transfers from last year. Carver just beat them last year for homecoming. No way you are going to tell me that this is the same team...LOL! They are not bad on defense but offensively they are not great either. They depend big plays and if Mitchell controls the game and keep the ball they are going to win this game in a low scoring game. They must run right at them. Charter schools are popping up everywhere and soon they will be the new private sector for our school system. I hope this doesn't mess up the game because with the NIL they will be able to get kids for a little of nothing. Thank of like this, you keep your school at 300 kids and just save 20 slots for football. This can be a problem for public schools.
While I agree with the bottom of your post just wanted to point out a couple of things.
First Corvian already beat Mitchell 42-6 in the SECOND round, couple of weeks back.
Second they beat Eastern Randolph 27-14 in the THIRD round last Friday

By the way, it is the same EXACT team. We had 9 starters (multiple 2 way players) go down week 6. We didn’t get any of them back until the first round of the playoffs against Draughn (we got 2 of them back). I wish we could just recruit kids!! That’d be awesome. The lottery tends to feed us a bunch of smart kids… and we can’t get them to figure out how to strap their shoulder pads. 😂😂
Ok sir. I think, for the most part, your posts have been just fine. Simply supportive of your teenagers without going overboard but…
9 starters? In one week? And they all made it back for playoffs? That’s almost miraculous territory.
Also most people have a charter near their schools. While we know a lottery does exist for charters, we also have never heard of an athlete being turned away EVER.
It is also my understanding that the lottery is only necessary when a certain grade level is at or near maximum students.
So please don’t play the “don’t know how to strap on their pads” card.
Amazing how the "lottery" seems to work out for the 90 MPH baseball pitcher, 6'9 Basketball player and state qualifier wrestlers to be accepted over the band and art kids at these schools. UCA is a prime example of this. Kids from all over the place on a 1A team with 800 kids and they chest thump when they beat a real 1A school with 350-500 kids to win the state title. Corvian is obviously a good team with good coaching, but I still think they will lose to MA this week by a few TD's. I am going with Tarboro to win it all this year!

5, 2 way starters. We only got 2 back for playoffs (so, 4 starters). If we got them all back we may have made a different run., humbly. Yeahhhhh… the lottery is what it is. WE don’t get the athletes everyone thinks. There are a million schools down here so if kids get in the “portal” they don’t want to come play 1A when there are so many other options. This is only our 2nd year (3- first doesn’t count lol), no one knew about us until hoops. Shoot, hopefully everyone wants to come moving forward, we have SEVERAL needs! U can do a little digging… we only have 1 (maybe 2) player that was on another high school roster prior to 11th grade. The majority of the kids we get in or are in the school (outside of the core that has been there since freshman year (and didn’t play) have never played football before. If you watch coaches interviews, you’ll see… first year coaches were teaching kids what hash marks were and the difference between punt and kickoff return. lol
