Come on guys, Shaun is probably just trying to get some information on a team outside his area for their show.
If you haven't been reading the boards there is some controversy/hard feelings over Corvian being a charter school and the quick success they are having. Mainly, over the fact that charter schools can get players from a larger surrounding area than traditional schools and some feel this allowance makes prime opportunities to recruit players in from outside the schools local community. I would encourage you to go back and read other thread or this one will just become another arguement over where charter schools are advantaged over traditional schools and should they have their own playoffs.
As for Corvian, I don't know anymore than what I have watched over the past 3 weeks and on here. Their coach is from Youngstown Ohio a few year back. Coached at Chaney High. This team has some very fast and athletic players all over the field. I have been most impressed with their defensive line. The two DT look to be around 6'2 or 6'3 and about 260-280. They get a good push and clog the middle pretty well. Both look strong, but I have noticed 55 will take a play off from time to time. Saw it happen once in the Mountain Heritage game and one of the players and coach fussed at him a bit. Next play dude when all out trying to get in the backfield. Showed they he can follow corrections which honestly the whole team seems well coached and responsive. The DEs are tall and fast. Probably 6'4ish about 220ish. They edge rush very well and contain the pocket pushing thing back to the middle for the big tackles and LBs. Their speed will make finding time to pass difficult, but I will say they do seem vulnerable to screen passes due to rush. They tackle well and look to strip the ball a lot.
Offensively, they run 3 WR a lot. Best, No.5, looks like he splits time at WR and sometime in the backfield on some plays. Best is fast and a good returner. Definitely a weapon to look for and avoid kicking to. He has reversed the field on a run against MH and MA for big plays, so end contain is important. Running back, No. 10 I believe is good, but nothing you don't necessarily see with other good teams. Good size, good speed, runs hard. The Qb can run and throw. He looks smaller than the rest, but that could just be because the line is big. He has a good arm, but accuracy seems to be more of the weaker spot. The WRs are tall and athletic enough to make up for that though. They pass the ball more than your average 1A team in NC. They are not East Surry of 2019, but they can move through the air.
They have an excellent kicker if high school. Probably good for 35 to 40 every time. Longer may have issues accuracy wise, I just haven't seen enough to say one that. Definitely makes the field shorter for Corvian to get poi ts on the board and long for Tarboro on kickoffs.
How they will match up with Tarboro, I have no idea. I like Tarboro to win, just because Corvian didn't win by large margins again Mountain Heritage and Mount Airy. Mount Airy was good this year, but they just weren't the same level as last year. Tarboro has a good number back from last year and seem hungry. It should be a very good game. I think gameplay will look more like the East Surry-Tarboro games than the Mount Airy Tarboro games just because of the pass game. They don't seem to do the screen pass game East Surry used a lot, they will be going down field more.
Anyway, that's about all I have to offer for info.
