Congratulations to the players and coaches of Mount Airy. You've had a very good run. Not only did you do what most people cannot do and win a state championship, but you defended the crown and won a second one. A much tougher task. The loss tonight will sting but hold your heads high and look back with pride on your accomplishments.

I guess we could say Charlotte Charter growing fast in there 3rd year of having a football program ! Has any public school did this in 3 years as a totally new school ? Hell to the No ! the word is CHARTER learn it because it has arrived in football in a big way !
I know you are making this comment to get back at some of the MA posters. However, when you say a team choked you are demeaning both teams. Your saying one played poorly and the other one was not good enough to win on their own I doubt that was the case. I bet it was just 2 good teams playing football.

Not this fast, but I don't think something like that has been done since Richmond Senior opened its doors in I think 1971 or 72 and won its first of 7 state titles in the 4A class in 1978
