FYI, many of you who reads these post may remember Coach Bobby Robinson (coach 1966-1988) Coach Robinson was a high school
All-American at Clinton High in 1957. Went on to play running back at Wake Forest behind QB Norman Snead. Took over the reigns as coach of the DarkHorse in 1966. Coached some tremendous teams. As a coach he was an expert at anylsing game films. He was a player’s coach. He believed in running the football from the pro set. His 1976 team went to the 3A championship game losing at Pisgah. He had some great teams thereafter up till his retirement. DarkHorse Stadium’s field is named after he & Coach Bob Lewis (Robinson-Lewis field)
Coach took a fall at his home last week requiring his going to the hospital. While there the doctors discovered another matter that was remided. He was discharged from the hospital Monday. Please keep Coach Robinson in your prayer for him to make a speedy, successful.recovery.
Quick side note about Coach as a player:I didn’t grow up in Clinton so I never saw him play in person, saw him on film, but a longtime follower of ClintoN football once said he wouldn’t say when Robinson ran the ball he was the fastest top end running, but he said he was the quickest to the hole of anyone he’s ever seen to this day. Folks this was in 1955-1957, his jersey is still in the DarkHorse’s trophy case today.
