Fayetteville football icon, one of the winningest coaches in NC Bob Paroli dies at 90

A longtime wins leader in NC, Bob Paroli took Douglas Byrd to five state championships and won the title with Seventy-First in 2008. He died Monday.

He was a hell of a coach. Looked like a coach, talked like a coach. RIP to a great legend. Those Byrd Teams were something special in the mid 90s. The irony of him winning at 71st is just too much to bear thinking about it. God bless the family.

He's retired, and very active traveling.

Yeah, wanted to leave that part out. LOLOL He was Byrd football. It was almost cruel to finally get a ship but you had to beat YOUR team to do it. Then he went back to Byrd to help out.

He will be sorely missed by the Byrd community. Even up to last year he was still going to the games. I went into coaching because of the positive influence he had on so many kids and the Byrd community was inspirational. Truly a great man. RIP Coach.
