After a open week Darkhorses return to action back at home hosting 3A Southern Lee. Last game before conf play and what a difference a year makes we have a good chance to go into conference at 3-1 a reverse from 1-3 in 2017. Someone please correct me if im wrong but i was looking on another site and i see if we win Friday that would be the programs 500th victory, not sure how accurate those numbers are but if true could be a special night for the Clinton program. Another interesting point bout this game is SL's new offensive coordinator Coach Cox coached with Johnson & company at Scotland so some friendly bragging rights on the line Friday....should be a good game if played Friday could possibly see this game moved up depending on the weather with Hurricane Florence possible heading this way....just hope to see the continued progress of the team we have looked better offensively every week and defense contunues to be strong hopefully we healed up over the bye week and we have everyone available injury bug has been busy.........all a sudden those EB and Northside wins look alot better....lol rebuilding year #GoHorses

Southern Lee will be a handful. Maybe the horses toughest opponent to date. Will only be good for y'all, win or lose.

Dont think they are better than Cape Fear....SL's two victories came against some poor competition...got shutout by Britt last night i think we can handle them

Offense will look to spread us out so their QB #12 can run around they have a big back #20 Ingram who seems to be the go to guy besides that nothing i dont think our defense can handle....getting 11 to the ball and being able to tackle in space will be key......offensively like mentioned above we have looked better and better each week and that offense seems to add a different element each game....QB Evans has stepped up and shown he is a gamer after fullback Smith should be close to if not 100% now after that bye week and have not.heard anything else about the other guys banged up so hopefully for the first time this season we will be playing with a full deck.....honestly the game at SL last year should of been alot worse they scored twice off our mistakes....if we do everything we need to do i see this being a 20+ point victory for us heading into conf play with some good momentum

Honestly, I think it will take an outstanding offense to score on the DarkHorses. I would say the Horses by 28+ i also think Southern Lee will be fortunate to score. Not saying they won't, depends on who's playing at the end of the game.
On an interesting note Tim Hairr, (former QB of the DarkHorses 1983 & 1984,) has a son (Logan Hairr #17) who plays WR for Southern Lee.
Tim was on the team that was the first to play in DarkHorse Stadium.
Welcome back to DarkHorse Stadium Tim!

I'm not sure but I'll research it. I know a few years ago we were at like 450 or so. I'll research it.

You're right CP lists us as:
Total 499 -206 -7 0.706 winning percentage since 1958 (60 years) of course football was played in Clinton before 1958 so I suppose it just this listing which is like this for all schools except those newer. Still, on any list 500 wins in 60 years is significant!

Any Clinton fans that care Ryheem Skinner put on a show out in Cali last night to start his JUCO sophomore year 15 carries 146 yards 2 TDs including a 58 yarder. Really hope some big program picks him up after this season kid was D1 performer on the field from the start. Congrats to him and his family on a great start to the season

Teams have started making plans with the incoming Hurricane seeing games being moved up to Wednesday

Yes, I wouldn't be surprised if the game is moved up to Wednesday, since Florence is expected to make landfall late Thursday/Friday morning.

yep, saw Skinner's game on YouTube last night, impressive
I think it would be smart on everyone's part to play Wednesday, Can play in rain but can't play in a hurricane!!!

From what im seeing this game should be played this week both school systems are back on normal schedule....Clinton hasnt played in over 3 weeks rust could be a problem especially since it seemed like the offense was finally clicking....one good thing is we were really banged up going into that bye week back in the beginning of the month should be pretty healthy now.....hope everyone is ok from the storm looking forward to getting back to some normal activities round here....football has a way of bringing people together especially after rough times

well, it looks like we aren't playing Southern Lee at all! The whole schedule has been revised due to the hurricane. The thing with Southern Lee is they're already into conference play and like us and other conference members conference play would take priority. On Friday or yesterday, I got an email from the school with the following revision for the whole conference. (I'm assuming there's been a conference meeting/conference call among all schools incorporating this revised schedule. I see the pronlem for Clinton is this would be a 9 game schedule! I heard there may be an opponent for the October 5th open date. Other schools have their open date rescheduled as well so that might could happen. We need it to happen. A 10 game schedule with no endowment game is one thing but a 9 game schedule. The Horses would most definitely be at a seeding disadvantage. The NCHSAA says on their site that it will be at least October 1st before they release plans for extending the season.

Seeding for football: Saturday, November 3

Football Playoffs:

1stround November 9 3rdround November 23 State Friday-Saturday,

2ndround November 16 Regional November 30 December 7-8

They will push the playoffs aback atleast a week maybe even two and do away with 1st rd games

So looks like based on this schedule they changed WRH open week and schedule is based on the belief the NCHSAA might extend the season one week.

The NCHSAA needs to go ahead and make a call so ADs and coaches can plan the balance of the season. As usual, they drag their feet for whatever reason and give no direction. I guess we should all expect that given the circus that Seeding Saturday has turned in to.

Maybe they will get all this right but who knows.

So we stuck with a 9 game schedule??? Well that sucks.....so were playing at Midway this Friday

Well i guess this will be a lesson that hey no matter what we need to schedule that endowment game......only playing 9 games definitely going affect our seeding.....we literally have no choice but to win out or we probably going be traveling again like last year

Too bad none of the county schools or HCA have that open date....would be easy to arrange in short time in regards to distance

Might be two weeks. Onslow or Duplin won't be in school again this week, maybe not next either. Many places still under water. You can't even get into Hanover co

NCHSAA needs to seriously just consider moving the playoffs back even if it means changing State title venues.....its more colleges out here other than UNC,State,Duke, and Wake.....can use NC A&T, Winston Salem State etc.....its not fair to those out here in the east especially places like Duplin,Onslow,Craven,New Hanover.....western teams just going have a couple byes until we catch up

I think Duplin County teams resumed practicing last Friday. Games should be able to be played this week in the ECC. Not sure about other counties.

At most the NCHSAA extends the regular season one week. Some teams will have to play a couple of games the same week at least once to make up games. I see no way non-conference games are made up if they are already postponed. If the ECC schedule posted above happens, it seems everything could be made up without two games in one week if the season is extended one week.

East Duplin had 10 players at practice not sure if you don't read the news or what??? Many houses are still under water??? How can you play games in this condition

changing state championship is not an issue, no one is playing in those venues in December

So why all the hesitation by the NCHSAA.....its no secret the conditions of these schools on the coast....for some this is more than a one week problem.....lives have been changed i really feel for those who have lost so much these last couple weeks

Not only do I read the news, I understand and comprehend what I am reading.

ED had 10 varsity players missing from practice per the article in Jacksonville paper not 10 players practicing Einstein.

I don't know that there will be games played but I do know that Wayne (2 hour delay Tues/Wed) and Clinton city schools are open this week. Not sure about Sampson County. I would also suspect that the change in WRH open date is due to difficulty in some of their kids being able to get to practice. I cannot speak to Onslow or Carteret counties.

It seems to me the ECC athletic directors already have a revised schedule that begins this week so it would appear games resume Friday night.

I will try and read the news more closely.

Just got another email:

Varsity football this Friday at Midway is postponed. Sampson County schools will not be in and able to practice until Wednesday at the earliest. NCHSAA rules require three days of practice for football if students are out more than five days. No game can occur Friday for varsity or the JV team Thursday. Make-up for varsity will probably be Monday but that is not set; nothing set for jv football

Curious wonder why Midway couldnt practice tomorrow so they could get the required amount of practice days in.....dont have to have to school to have practice do ya?

Looks like Southern Lee @ Clinton ain't happening. NCHSAA has extended the regular season one more week. As for what's next, your guess is as good as mine ...

Clinton had practice friday without school.....make it to the round of the playoffs(Thanksgiving week) you practice with no school.

Thanksgiving is not an issue, there is no school scheduled that Thursday and Friday. We started football August first before school began but it wasn't scheduled. The example is that school is scheduled and weather or whatever prevents students from going to school because it's closed. There can be no other school extra-curricular activities. I heard they had a team meeting Friday, i don't know if they practiced. Maybe they got board approval, I don't know

And im guessing no luck finding a opponent for the open week.....were going to be hard pressed to win out our remaining games with a 9 game schedule......definite seeding disadvantage
