Tale of the tape: All time series Clinton leads 6-4

Last years result 15-0 Cape Fear

2018 records- Cape Fear 7-5(5-3) 5th in 4A/3A Patriot League
- Clinton 8-3(5-1) 1st in East Central

-Last years game was a defensive chess match won by Coach Jacob Thomas trusting his punter who delivered 2 perfectly place punts inside the Clinton 5 yard line, Clinton struggling to find the offensive rhythm unable to grain ground which led to great field position for Cape Fear which led to 2 late scores ultimately winning the game.

Expect a similar type game both teams defenses setting the tone i would hope for a better offensive outting this time around as Clinton's offense has been held scoreless in the last two meetings with the Colts(7 points in 2017 was a defensive TD)....from what i heard the other night in the scrimmage vs Terry Sanford offense moved the ball well on the ground and thru the air hopefully translates to week 1. Defensively i heard nothing but good things thru out the summer and from the scrimmage add in one of the best defensive players in the state and you got a very solid unit.

According to the outside experts this is the first of a easy schedule lol so i guess this should be a breeze.......For us that know better know Cape Fear is going to bring it just like they have the last two years limit our mistakes get the offense rolling and i think we walk away with a well earned win.My prediction Clinton 16 Cape Fear 8

Good write-up! This will be another great game between two teams that are becoming rivals again. Watching the Cape Fear/Scotland game, if the Colts can't stop Clinton's passing game, they will have a long night trying to stop the Horses's running game behind that huge O-line.

Well i wish i could elaborate further i didnt get to see the scrimmage vs Terry Sanford just the things you and others told me about how the offense looked so my score prediction is based off that if Clinton's offense is coming along like i heard then it could be a whole different type game.....wished rain would of held off atleast till today but oh well....looking forward to getting my first live look should be a good game and im guessing they will do Bob Lewis's ceremony at halftime since it was suppose to take place at the Jamboree

Yeah, I saw that the top of the scoreboard was covered up. I'm pretty sure I know what they've done to it.

Having not seen clinton in person yet, I’m making my assumptions off of reports and inside info. Our Defense will be tough to score on, I don’t know how talented we are offensively but I know we have a huge O-Line. Given all that I’d expect a low scoring game. 14-7 10-7 something like that. Whoever can loosen up the D with a pass or two, will win imo.

I wonder if they’re just having solid black helmets this year? Or is Coach just waiting until the first game to outfit them?

The numbers are fine, but something else needs to be added, because the helmets still look too plain. Maybe a white or gold stripe down the middle of the helmet?

Yeah that would look good too......also they extended the team store days doesnt close until the 22nd...its some nice gear up there

Another idea is to have 2 helmets....a gold one for when we wear home black, and a black one for when we're on the road.

Yeah sounds good but expensive and unnecessary new nike jerseys should be coming in the next year or 2 sure it will be a new fresh look but i doubt they spurge for multiple helmets

Clinton and Cape Fear has quickly become a rivalry again. All records can be thrown out of the window, any fan will know this will be a knock down drag out fight.

2 blue collar teams going at it....their Coach is good too his decisions to punt and trust his defense won them the game last year

Seeing some games start to get moved up cause of the thunderstorm threat....my WRAL weather app has a 40% chance Friday in Clinton

Will they be honoring Coach Lewis at this game?

I believe so havent heard anything officially but they were suppose to do it at the Jamboree last week so would only make sense first home game of the year to do the re naming ceremony officially Bob Lewis Stadium

May change my prediction no way the football Gods let Clinton lose on Bob Lewis night. This may be a blowout
I'm not sure. Cape Fear has a ton coming back on D. The offense I'm not so sure of. They've had a few more scrimmages than us, against powers Scotland and SE Guilford. But I hope you are correct:);)

I saw where the kid that played QB against us last season is playing RB this season good size kid at 210lbs.....i believe its going be similar to last year ill be surprised if either team scores over 20

Fayobserver writer predicts Cape Fear 21 Clinton 20 and a big night for the Cape Fear RB.....Simmons has Clinton by 1......like i said above im expecting a smashmouth grind it out defensive type game.....whoever wins doesnt win by more than a score.....could be wrong but well see cant wait for tomorrow night this is truly my favorite time of year
