Clinton @ East Bladen updates

Everyone overlooked this game and called for a blowout i warned yall.......looks like we in for a dogfight
No one knew the field conditions would be a severe as they were. Yes both teams had to play on it but it definitely held scoring back. Hines of EB is a good EB but he as Everyone found out making cuts in the field was impossible. Dry field the Horses win by 3-4 TD'S

Just pointing out the obvious
To all Clinton Fans, I agree with EBHSFAN, Clinton is the best defense I have seen in the last 10 years. But also what about the EB defense. I am proud of these young fellows holding mighty Clinton to just two offense scores. As far as the Clinton turnovers, maybe the EB defense had a little to do with that also. The difference in the game was the big fullback #40 for Clinton. He played a great game. I hoped he would tire out in the second half but I think he got stronger. Except for the one score in the second half, the other two speedsters were held in check. Good luck to Clinton the rest of the way. I would not like to be Clinton's opponent next week.

Im sticking to my guns when i say this is a game no one should every overlook....playing a rival school on there homefield always a challenge....but anyway one of the true hallmarks of a championship team is resiliency-the ability to bounceback after taking one to the chin.....last night we were up against it....the field conditions the referees and a pretty solid EB team and the boys answered.....thats a helluva comment Westpointrookie and it speaks volume "best defense you seen in 10 years" i agree....also i read in bladen journal Coach Priest said he expects Clinton to rep the 2AA/2A east in the state title game(which ever one we fall under)

Im getting more excited bout this team.....and the sad thing i dont even think we have played our best football yet......

You're right DH34, in that a game like this was needed. I wish the field was in better condition to see more of the athletes from both teams put their skills on full display, but Mother Nature had other plans. East is a solid team, and they will go deep in the playoffs. 1-0, let's now focus on Midway.

I think (if my math is correct) that this defense has only given up 36 points over six games. Giving up an average of only 6 points a game is pretty darn stout. When the season started I really thought that the offense was going to be the strength of this team (and don't get me wrong this offense is very impressive), but this defense is probably this teams strength right now and should concern any offense out there. I've also been very impressed with this coaching staff and their ability to adjust when it's needed. Impressive team.

Whats even more amazing....3-4 potential starters on defense are not even there due to transfers and one not playing.....the secondary that many thought would be a weakness has performed and passed every test

No one overlooked this game. Anyone that follows Clinton football knows this is a game that is the longest continuous playing rival in the school's history. They've been looking forward to playing each other every year since the 1940's. It's been a friendly rivalry mostly because Coach Lewis and Coach Lennon Fisher were assistants at Clinton before going to EB. I think both fan bases have a lot of respect for each other. EB vs CHS have always been competitive games over the years. Heck year before last they best the Horses regular season before the Horses went in route to the state championship game. So it wasn't a matter of overlooking EB. EB will tell you that the Horses are a much better team than the Eagles this year but the WEATHER and field conditions was the unknown factor plus the postponement and disruptions of routines that were the factors.
Oh yes both teams had to play under the same circumstances but if anyone actually walked out onto the field you would know there wasn't going to be much scoring in the game. As one EB poster stated the difference in the game was that the Horses have a very talented fullback #40 Smith who can plow straight ahead and maintain possession gaining some yardage.
Under the circumstances I'm proud of the DsrkHorses. Though not pretty at times the did exactly what they had to do to come away with a win, no injuries and play forward into the rest of the season. Really good teams win games like this.
That being said EB is a good team, I fully expect them to finish 3rd in the.conference and advance in the playoffs

I don't think about the potential starters who aren't with this team. Those people made a decision and frankly I don't want a player that doesn't want to play . In winning any game you got to want it. If the Horses are to run the table however and win the championship, having witnessed several ring bearing ceremonies,I'm sure we have enough players to want that!!!!

Once again just point outing the obvious and giving credit where credit is due.....the secondary has surpassed expectations the defense as a whole has been amazing

Probably the worst officiating I have ever seen. Just my 2 cents! Ryheem and Tyion just never seemed to get into it either. Maybe it was a Saturday thing...just guessing.

I'd rather win an ugly game than have a pretty loss.....

Horses1, it was a footing thing, I went out on the field afterwards and spoke with coach, it was very clear running, making cuts, and even place kicking was going to be next to impossible. It's was very unstable. It was that bad. EB's running back Hines couldn't do anything either and he's a pretty good back. There wasn't anything that could be done about it when you have that much water it doesn't just go away!! Pray tell with a approaching hurricane coming end of the week what may happen.I'll agree the officiating was terrible, with the official later admitting missing the touchback/safety call but the worst officiating I've ever seen was Bunn last year. When you can't get the time right you can't can't anything right because no one really knows wheather it really happened or not!!!
