We have scrimmaged Havelock, New Bern and played Jacksonville. Next up the defending eastern champs Clinton. This is were Dempsey will have to teach these boys to be men because there confidence has got to be blown. Clinton 42-0, Scoring is going to be a big problem all year.

I do believe Clinton will win but remember we are pretty young at some positions as well especially on our lines....if the line performs up to par I see us winning anywhere from 2-4 TDs....35-7 my score prediction

So check it out if they beat Northside which right now evryone claims is the best team in Onslow County right now would they be a above average team? They have some things to work on but they look solid in all phases of the game. I agree they need a signature win...beating SWO and Northside are not them....to be considered anything legit they would have to beat a New Bern or be the team in the conference to get over that Havelock hump. Time will tell on this one, we can score if we can block, we can defend if we can stop the run. Only possible issue I saw during our jamboree was our interior size to stop the run on defense and our youth on the offensive line, BUT, if we give our backs just one small crease then Boom. Only question is can we do that. Our secondary this year is pretty good so defending the pass will probably be our strength but who knows, we haven't played a game yet. See u guys Friday.
Don't let SWO fans fool you. They know their kids will be. Will they win? Probably not will they get shutout and blown out again like last week? I don't think so. If it were any other team that beat them that bad at home they would have excuses as always when they lose but because it was Jacksonville...oh they are not very good and just average team at best...lol now we all know if they would have won even by a point then it would be how superior their athletes are how fast they are how much their line is bench pressing and how Coach Dempsey is going to become a legend like Padgett the whole nine yards.( Which he could) Some of them just needs to relax and give their kids and team some credit and support instead of getting on here and throwing them under the bus. I am sure a kid or two from there reads this stuff.
Southwest has decent size to be so young, but you will notice one thing missing that they have always had, and that is speed. They lack the stud with that game changing speed. When your offense is set up to utilize speed and big plays, and your running back plays like a 4.6 guy, you will be in trouble all year. If they would line up and go back to the old smashmouth football days, they might stand a chance. But as for now, I just hope they score a TD. And as far as Mr. Virginia Tech goes, he looks as if he is playing half speed trying not to get hurt. The coaches should just pull him out and give another kid the opportunity to play that will give it their all because this is their last chance to play. Just my 2 cents worth.
SWOECU, agree smashmouth atleast eats up the clock and plays to a strenght which is the O line. Mr VT played pretty well maybe I missed something you saw. Get through this week and reevaluate after the Richland Jones SR game. I am hoping we will find that were not talented enough to beat a solid 3a team Jacksonville or a contender for a state title in Clinton, but should be good enough to beat a bad 3a team in Richlands, and dominate a 1a team in Jones Sr. That should lead us into the White Oak game (3a) ready to be competitive.
Man oh man..... I'm a DEDICATED SWO fan... I saw the game on hudl from last week and it look like the team was just going through the motions..... Alot of kids that were supposed to play are not playing due to various reasons......but I'm hoping Dempsey got these boys MOTIVATED for this one.....lets see how resilient this sqaud is......me and Dempsey were on the same team back in 97 and we thought that just because we wore SWO uniforms that we had it in the bag.....wasn't until we met a team by the name of clinton and experienced a 55-0 whooping ......that we pulled it back together and made a good run through our first year in the ECC and a deep run in the playoffs!!! I say all that to say this depending on how hard this team competes will tell a whole lot about them.....35-14 clinton .......crazy thing about it is i didn't get to see my boys i person all last yeardue to the fact was in PHX.....and no I'm in ATL and will be home in Jacksonville this weekend to see my boys play......I GOT FAITH IN THEM!!!!! GO STALLIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm timing myself to make my 14,000 post special. It may very well come tomorrow night. I feel pretty certain the DarkHorses will win but I don't think it will be the massacre, some are posting particularly the SWO faithful. I know the 41-0 beatdown by Jax was tough to swallow but I just don't think any SWO team is going to roll over. It's not in the genetics of SWO and we must remember this is high school football. If I had to make a prediction I'd say 35-14, maybe 42-21. We'll see. I do hope to see a few of my old ECC friends!
I hope they find those "genetics" because the half of football I watched last week was not SW football. The kids didn't play like the SW of old. They were lacking that drive. Another thing I took away was the whole atmosphere of the stadium was different, the "hype" was not there. The boys ran through the banner and went straight to the sideline and stood around. Hopefully they will find it down deep and put it together.
As far as the blowout scores, I'm basing mine off the fact that once Clinton gets to the corner, they will run for days because the speed didn't seem to be there. Also, the DBs didn't defend the pass well at all, luckily the Jville QB didn't throw well.
