Clinton at East Bladen updates

Offense still has some things to get together hoping Jalen Smith returning to the lineup will help we gotta take better care of the ball tho 6 turnovers in the first two games and we have yet to complete a pass.....defense still solid bended alil but didnt break....enjoy the win get ready for the home opener against Northside-Jax who is always tough....they played New Hanover tough tonight lost 24-14

NS is rebuilding. Not the same They have been. NH is in the same boat rebuilding.

Not to take anything away from Northside, but I saw New Hanover play at the jamboree at Cardinal Gibbons, and I was not impressed. They lost a ton of firepower from last year. Defense is ok though.

It was a win. I'd rather win ugly than lose pretty. That's basically what we've experienced the first two weeks I think. Not being critical, just keeping it real.....

I said that cause NS-Jax has a pretty decent defense aswell so i dont expect much scoring next week either

NS is rebuilding this year. Def not the same team as the past few seasons. QB looks lost at times, RB runs way to up and down. Clinton should win this game

I understand that but im not overlooking anybody and im sure Coach Johnson aint either NS is going play us hard they always do and atleast offensively we dont look like world beaters ourselves hopefully our fullback is able to play next Friday.....defensively were good

Beginning next week, Evans needs to work with the WR’s and develop patience in the pocket. When there are two 6’3 receivers and a pass can’t be completed, that’s a problem.

Hats off to the coaching staff for the adjustments they made i like we came out in some different formations unlike the week before....im happy the offense was able to move the ball think we had more total yards on the first drive then we did the entire Cape Fear game....just like to see us finish some of those drives and we gotta take care of the ball better....looking forward to get big Jalen Smith back but the other backs did a hood job tonight Mclellan and Wallace have good speed and sophomore Davion "Boogie" Smith shows flashes.....QB Evans made a great read on his 2nd TD run.......defense i told yall about Wilson #88 before the season i saw it coming last year when he was on the field kid can play dline as a whole great job got after to QB when we needed some big plays....Kaba and Cruise did what they do....and the secondary covered well we were kinda worried about them preseason but i think they will be ok....%1 better every day....just trying to go 1-0 next week

I think we just need to simplify it a bit....only passes we throwing are flys.....quick slant or a out just something to establish a rhythm would be fine.....i wanna see them run that play the JV runs....they ran it 2 times and both times guy is open and led to a long TD

need to develop not fumbling the ball. There's a cure for that one way or another. Fumbling destroys everything. ]Fortunately, the Horses have a great defense.

I’m watching high school football on ESPN, Hoover vs Pinson Valley. Hoover is so stacked with talent that their 2nd string RB has offers from SEC schools, and he’s just a Sophomore! And they dress out 100 players. Jeezus!!

Look at their offenses too, it ain’t no Vear, or T-Formation. It’s spread em out, run it, throw it. Get athletes in space. Guess if you have em, use em.

One glaring issue with the Horses will be inside the opposing teams' 30, if they can't get positive yardage. There is no place kicker, so it's 4 down territory and teams will know that, so the defense will pin their ears back, especially if Clinton is unable to complete a pass or hold on to the ball.

As good as the soccer team you think they could rent a kicker on Friday nights

One would think! If I'm not mistaken, didn't they do just that with Will Pearson when he was at Clinton in 2012? Or like was mentioned before, pull the kicker up from JV on Friday nights since they can now play 8 quarters again.

When I was watching that Hoover game earlier, Pinson Valley lost their kicker to injury over the summer, and they asked 6 players from their soccer team to try out. The kid that kicked for them today played in his first football game ever today! Of course the coach didn't trust him beyond 20 yards, but at least he was there to kick extra points.

It's my understanding that a kicker from our soccer team is going to do the placekicking duties (ep, fg) at least that's what I heard, won't use names. Last night the soccer team was playing a rare Fruday match it being a showcase event at Cary Soccer park.

That’s great news if this is true!
