How many transfers have the Cherokee Boys and Girls Varsity basketball teams have this year ? A couple of new players for boys and girls that I have not seen come up through the ranks

No conspiracy. I was told Sat your team had got players from Choctow and a couple of other states. I've watched SMC games for years and noticed some players did not come up through the ranks. It's no problem was just wandering
The Day kid who's averaging about 20 a game played at a school in Mississippi last year. But it's not like this is really unique to Cherokee. Most of the best SMC teams over the years have had kids who didn't come up through the ranks at that school (including your Wildcats's two sectional titles in the early 2000s with a big time scorer that came over from Nantahala his junior year).

Haha I agree but you know there are those that can't just give credit where it's due. I know the question has been raised by some in the smc community out of suspicion or jealousy. We're definitely no charter school like we've seen winning the past few years. Haha that's a whole different thread in itself.
Come on man really ... Why are you not asking about swains teams which are loaded with transfer kids... We got one girl and one boy .. Both native who moved to an all native school. Not just changed schools like swain gets. For that matter Hayesville and Murphy seem to exchange players too. Please do not call cherokee out when the rest of the conference is the same way. I think as long as cherokee is successful and stable we will keep our kids and gain from other tribes who aren't so fortunate.
Like stated above, the girls only has a native girl who moved here with her family over the summer.. The rest of the girls has always played for Cherokee..
Ok. Let's calm down. Has anyone ever seen me in the middle of a discussion about early college or transfers from one school to another. No. My kids play ball so I have watched both boys and girls teams in our area and pretty well know who plays for each team. I noticed early in the season both boys and girls teams for Cherokee had faces I had not seen. Simple question ! We picked up 2 lineman from Ohio for our football team this year and I even posted about it. No controversy needs to be started. Again, I conduct myself on this site like a adult and I always support our SMC
The Clapsaddle girl is not from Hayesville, the Clapsaddle kids always lived in Cherokee County, they went to school in Hayesville because they had a parent working there.
Murphy has gotten a couple of football players that played at Hayesville in the last couple of years (Posey and Clapsaddle) but Hayesville has benefited from transfers from Murphy over the years as well: J. Earls girls basketball, A. Brown football, M. Teems basketball, P. Crowder baseball, E. Hughes baseball, etc.

I'm well aware of that. Maybe our Casino will help draw people to our County which might help us get new student athletes to our little school
I figured at some point this question would be raised. Wildcat10, the girl's team has one girl that moved from Mississippi over the summer, the boys team has one new player from Mississippi who moved here with his family, and another boy that previously attended private school who chose to come back home and attend school. This is why you haven't seen them play up through the ranks. Hope this clears everything up for you. Forgive us if we don't take your curiosity as "just asking" because you probably wouldn't give it a second thought if our basketball teams weren't having a fairly successful season. Anyway maybe "your" casino will help you attract some new student (athletes) but my guess is if they have to choose between Andrews, Murphy and Cherokee then Cherokee will be getting more new students.
Really didn't see the issue with this question. I guess it's a touchy subject. As far as the casino helping our town it is already impossible to find a place for all the new people moving in to rent. So our numbers in school surely will rise and the hopes of new student athletes also. Again, not stirring the pot ! I have never placed myself in the middle of the posts about early college or kids transferring from local schools. If I have offended any of the Cherokee people it was not my intentions at all.
Murphy had a kid on JV football who is playing B-ball now that transferred in from the Charlotte. These things happen. What's stranger to me is for A HD JV girls team to be allowed to play in the Big SMC because the little SMC didn't have other JV teams and win the conference only to have the runner-up team take the trophy from them after they had lost to HD 3 times...strange

There are certainly posters who, if they had asked that question, I would have assumed it was rooted more in pot-stirring than curiosity, but wildcat10fan is not one of those posters. And if my response seemed like I was attacking you wildcat10fan, I didn't mean it that way.
From my understanding the coach came to HD and took the trophy because they were not an official member of the Big SMC even though they allowed them to play and I believe also win the JV tournament game against them last night.
