Chambers Open?!?

Wiggins is a clsss act. I saw him stepping down in the next few years to be a principal where the real money is at. He’s been commuting from Greensboro to Charlotte for the past 2 years every day. Got a wife and two young babies. Thankful for his service at JC.

What sucks is they had the perfect situation at Chambers with Donald Littlejohn in the building and would’ve been the easiest choice to take over the program but that won’t be happening.

Folks sleep on Coach Littlejohn. Its no coincidence everywhere he goes they win. Mallard Creek, South Pointe, and now WC. He's the son of legend and will make an excellent head coach one day. He would have done wonders at Chambers. Sooner or later folks will realize hiring from within or within the system works. Seen it too many times. When Knotts left WC it should have gone to Strong or Gilchrist. Butler should have gotten Stone. Indy won a ship with Geiler. Indy was good with Evans, and MacFadden. WC good with Flowers, Brand..... Butler good with Hales. Littlejohn at Chambers would have been lethal. But these ADS are getting these Greensboro coaches that dont know Charlotte ball as well. Greiner is lethal at WC because he knows the culture/environment.

when it comes to Coach Littlejohn, I feel ya ......he need way more props for his skills. What he done at Mallard Creek and South Pointe say a whole lot 'bout how he build teams that win. It be funny why them athletic directors be sleepin' on local talent like that. Wiggins been the real deal at JC, and how he juggle the commute with fam life is mad respect. Moving up to principal feel like the perfect move for him, especially with coaching and family on his plate.

He will be an excellent principal. Glad to see him taking that step.

Snagging coaches from far away sometimes misses the true Charlotte vibe. But like Greiner at WC, he’s vibing with the 704! Understanding the local scene equals instant W’s! He knows what makes the squad and fans go wild, and that’s the secret sauce.

This will be interesting. Kids ain’t knocking the doors down to come to Chambers to play football anymore. Facilities, uniforms, and program in general are way better shape at Creek and West Charlotte. Not making any excuses for the program’s demise but Fielder is cleaning up a lot of mess from the previous AD. They went from sugar to shit real fast. Previous AD set the program back and we’re going to see remnants of his tenure at Chambers. Gonna take a big time hire to get them back IMO..

I doubt very seriously, if any coach that has been inside that building is applying for that job. Kids talk. They already know it’s not a good destination for football, unless you’re just zoned and have to go there. First stop for the new coach should be James Martin middle school. Gotta start from scratch.

It’s crazy to see the program crumble this fast. People will think I’m being extreme but I can see it being Harding or Berry bad if the right hire isn’t made. Many people don’t realize that Chambers is up there with Garringer as far as discipline, overall school grade (both Fs) and is often viewed as one of the worst schools in the city. The big 3 sports (football and girls & boys basketball) at Chambers made many overlook the challenges & negative perception of the school.

I think the people in charge over there know they need someone who can thrive with an inner-city population and connect with those kids. When they've had their big success, they had strong leaders who had great assistant coaches that could keep kids there, and attract other because of their success.

That connection I think is even more important than any on-field success. If you can't connect with that population, I wouldn't even consider applying for that job as a head coach.

Connecting with these little champs is like finding the last slice of pizza at a party! If you wanna keep them hyped and down for the grind, you have to vibe hard!

It rose that fast, why wouldn’t it crumble that fast?

Chambers was never down that low. They were a 6-8 win team before their ascent, with a couple of peaks in there - most notably under Culicerto they made a run in the playoffs in the mid 2000s if I remember correctly.
Agree they weren’t THAT low. But they really weren’t ever “in the conversation.” They did make the run to the semifinals in 2010 but that was more a result of Creek never developing a #2 QB.

I’d take a run at Lash.

Not a sexy pick, but was on two previous staffs that were successful and hasn’t been gone from the school long. Has the pull from his alma mater worn off yet at Smith?

Man, Lash's got the magic touch from past seasons! He knows how to score W's like it's chili cook-off season in Carolina! His buddy connections are tighter than grandma's hugs at a family reunion. Plus, he's fresh out of the the school like a Carolina Panther at a tailgate, chumming it up with recruits and staff, making recruiting smoother than a perfectly grilled cheese!

Chambers was usually below to above average every year until around 2015 when they became really good.

Chambers was good last season. It seems like the Ferebee to Butler domino fell, some of the assistant coaches and potential kids wanted to bail. In hindsight everybody should have stayed where they were at because it didn’t work out at both schools. This was the worst i have ever seen Butler and Chambers and they opened the same year so that used to be a rivalry.

Don’t know how severe the corruption was but I do know Chambers’ players put up some money for some sweats/gear and never saw it. I know they reassigned their previous AD to teach some classes while the investigation was taking place and then pooof.. He made the same kind of coming home video that got Hollywood Smothers popped. Those in the know, know exactly what I’m referring to!

The Athletic Director got benched like a kid who forgot his homework! 😂 It’s like, ‘Hey, we’re worried, so go teach math, bro! But then it’s silent as a squirrel hiding nuts during winter on those follow-ups. You just dropped a bomb and skedaddled like a raccoon at a picnic! Meanwhile, the comparison to Hollywood Smothers? That’s a plot twist nobody asked for! More like a drama class nobody signed up for!

🤣 he did the same exact thing Hollywood did though with the extra video about coming home 🤣 Hollywood is my guy and he’d even agree (looking back) that the video was cringe.

You not doing much research I see. Didnt you just see someone complaining about the previous AD? No shade to throw but VERY highly doubt he ever returns to Chambers. He will do well at Smith if given time.
