Let the conference championship race commence!

ND vs OG: much better game this year, still picking North.

CD vs Lexington: Central is improved, Lexington has the speed advantage. Tough pick for me, going with the Jackets in a close one. Lexington needs to get more scoring from their offense.

ED vs South Rowan: taking East, South is terrible. If East can't beat them they may not beat anyone.

WD vs Ledford: Panthers win, may be closer than expected.

Tville vs Salisbury: tough one, I hope the Bulldogs win but picking the Hornets. Low scoring game, defensive slugfest.

North over OG: ND with a huge graduation loss of talent and an 0-2 start needs the rival win to stay on top of the CCC and OG is looking for that first big win against an upper tier CCC team. OG has a good start, but have played awful opponents.

CD vs. Lexington- advantage to Lexington for speed. But speed has nothing to do with stopping the double wing and holding the line against the wedge and power all night. Upset win goes to CD!

ED-SR: ED wins a close game. Neither have shown much, SR has lost to better competition so this one could go either way.

Ledford beats WD. The Panthers 0-2 record is deceiving based on non-conference opponents. West is improved but Ledford still has a solid defense. Randleman would win the CCC and Ledford held them to 14 points and had a chance to win the game. The conservative offense will eventually bite them and cost them wins, but not this week.

THS- Salisbury: Thomasville wins in a close game. Both are athletic, but Salisbury has the edge in depth. Special teams likely win this one. A win will be huge for both teams as this is a CCC top five matchup early in the season.

I agree speed has nothing to do with stopping the double wing. I'm more concerned about Central not having played anyone decent yet.

What makes you think Randleman would win the CCC?

Went 5-0 last week!
A tougher week.

OG- OG has played an awful schedule, which scares me a little. But after watching ND, they aren’t the same as last year. Think OG pulls this one off in a tight ball game. Might attend this game.

LHS- This isn't the first time CD has ran that type of offense. Agree, it will take discipline to stop. But, Speed kills guys. Don’t forget CD has to play defense too. And CD has played no one worth a darn. Lexington has played som pretty good teams. They tested.

SR- South Rowan is not very good, but no way East is better. This might be the toughest game to pick!

Ledford- Dont think this will get ugly, Ledford Offense is still searching. But Ledford Defense is pretty good.

Salisbury- Thomasville program is going in the right direction. But Salisbury has the chance and Kids to finish 1-3 in this league. Numbers will be an advantage.

And I also think Randleman would win the CCC. That team has some real talent and depth. They played pretty sloppy against Ledford.

ND vs OG - I think ND still has too much for talent for OG. ND by at least 2TDs.

CD vs Lexington - I think this could be a close game for a while as Central's tricky double wing offense gives Lexington fits but ultimately Central will struggle to contain their speed. Lexington by at least one score.

SR vs ED - East should win if they play like they are capable. South hasn't shown much so far getting blown out by better opponents while East played 2 pretty solid teams who both were playoff teams last year. The East offense has been inconsistent so far with questionable play calling. If East can improve that and can consistently move the ball they should pull out the win. Picking East in a close game.

WD vs Ledford - West is improved this year and has a good group of seniors. Their offense doesn't appear to be the one dimensional grind it out O we've seen in the past as they appear to have been mixing in more passes to become more balanced. It should be a close game with West having a chance to win in the end but I think Ledford has a solid enough defense and enough athletes on offense to pull out the win. Ledford by 10.

THS vs Salisbury - Should be a close game but I think Salisbury has more depth and a better run game so they should grind out the win. SHS by a TD.

Randleman would have finished a solid 3rd in the conference last year. This year, they’d do no better than 2nd. A couple of years ago, I wouldn’t have given you 10 cents for the CCC.... but now there are enough sneaky, unpredictable teams that can jump up and bite you. Randleman would lose to North this year.

North Davidson over Oak Grove... North is two touchdowns better than OG on paper. They’re going to have to be very sloppy to lose.

I’m no Central Davidson fan... I’ve been amused by the suck that comes out of Southmont each year. This year, they might beat someone in the conference. Lexington is unproven as well. Still, until Central proves something other than beating two terrible 1A teams, I can’t pick them. Lexington by 13.

South Rowan might be the worst team in the CCC. East beats them with their very boring and predictable offense. East wins by 7.

West Davidson, in the last 5 years, has no business being in the same stadium with any of the upper tier CCC teams. They have a scrappy group of seniors this year who have some talent as well. They’ll be helped by the one-dimensional Ledford offense, but won’t be able to get over the hump. Ledford by 14.

Salisbury is a question mark this year. The close game with a weak (for them) North Rowan. Then they came back and absolutely whooped Carson. Salisbury has the edge when it comes to depth, which is the Achilles heel of Thomasville. Close game early. Salisbury pulls away in the second half. Salisbury by 20.

As far as Randleman goes, they beat Ledford last year but I think ND would have beat them. So it would have been a three way tie last year, even though ND proved the loss to Ledford was a fluke in the Eastern Title game. Ledford wouldn't have even scored in that game if not for a bad no-call on the punt that gave Ledford great field position.

This year things still have to play out but Randleman already beat Ledford and might be able to beat ND. Maybe we shall see in the playoffs depending on ADMs and east/west placement?

Who knows lol

First paragraph sounds like your typical ND .... Haha

Meh. Just my opinion. I'm not one of the ND fans that sit on their hands and complain about every call. North dominated Ledford in the second game, that is beyond dispute.

Nice troll attempt though. Yawn...

We was talking about that first game!!!! Typical ND fan again

ND.. OG's still a year or two away from being potentially ready to take control but I see them doing better but not enough to win.

Tossup between CD and Lexington.. I'm not really sold on Lexington to be honest. They have never been really that consistent this decade. Henderson may have got them to respectability but they never broke the barrier. The new guy's never been a consistent HC besides that random 1 year at Davie where they won a lot of games out of nowhere. He managed to turn that into 2 more HC jobs that he didn't really deserve. Still don't get how he got another one after his last year at West Caldwell. He's got a lot of pressure on him to perform, this game will either eliminate it or multiply it.

I see CD coming ready to play.. they are out to prove theirselves. They will win some CCC game/s this year, HC needs a good year and the kids are due one. Could go either way.. if Lexington is soft on the line then it could be a rough night regardless of their speed as that offense is hard to stop if you're line isn't physical.

ED.. South Rowan's terrible. I feel sorry for their HC as he's trying really hard down there but they can't catch a break, ED definitely won't give them one either.

Ledford.. West Davidson's much better and should be competitive with everyone they just don't have the star athletes to beat the Panthers. They won't be solidly consistent until they go to 1A.

Salisbury in a thriller.. Thomasville's talented and has a great HC but I was really impressed by Salisbury when we scrimmaged them. Their HC's done a great job with them and they run their offense decently. They have the cats to throw it on almost everyone and not get stopped. This will show if they can get into the top 3 or not.. they have the depth edge on Thomasville. ? is can their D raise to the level they need or not. I think so.

ND over OG by 21.

CD over Lexington by 2.

South Rowan by 5.

Ledford by 21.

Salisbury by 10.

And let’s be honest. ND is going to be fine. Will finish 9-2 and make a deep run. They played 2 top notch higher level teams . Also see Salisbury finishing 2nd and Ledford 3rd with OG right behind them.

ED smashed by SR. Golden Eagles gonna have a long season

ED got their starting RB and TE ejected in the 1st half with score 0-0. Also heard some defensive players were benched by the coach after talking back. So the team just seemed to fall apart after that. Offense play calling was bad anyway and if the coach doesn't make some changes then will definately be a long season for East.

OG and ND game was good. Had to sit on ND side, was so crowded. Was by the band. So double the worse of seats. Crying fans and drums. ND has no clue on defense. Offense has weapons. OG passing game is weak but sure can run the ball. The defense is solid but has no speed. OG specials teams is really bad. Could of saved the drama of the game if they had a punter or a Kicker. ND started at mid field almost every possession. ND didn’t play sloppy, they was just out coached and outplayed. OG was the better team. The tides are turned. Sorry ND fans!!!!!

And how about Central Davidson. Friend was keeping me updated. They made a fool of me. They shut down the speed and Lexington couldn’t play discipline football to stop that Offense.

Went 4-1 Not bad.

The only win I picked was Ledford, this tells me lots of things. One I have no idea what im talking about. Salisbury is better than I thought with big time speed. Oak Grove looks like conference front runner. Thomasville has worse defense they have had in a few years. Ledford is boring and will lose 2-3 games in CCC. South Rowan is terrible which makes East that much worse, I know East lost some key players but sounds like coach has lost control of the team. I know they have some talent on that team. Central deserves all the good that is going to happen for them this year. West will battle East for bottom feeding. North I dont know about them I have heard QB went down and may be out for the year, if so North will have a couple more CCC loses.

The two teams that I'm still on the fence about are Ledford and Salisbury. Ledford's offense was "boring" last year, but they still won the conference. Will their D be good enough to win big games is the question. At 1-2, their two losses have been to a 4A school and a very solid Randleman team. I'm still not quite sold on Salisbury.

Thomasville is really struggling with low numbers, resulting in too many kids playing both ways. The loss of their all-conference running back is killing them. They need fifteen more decent players.

May be a long year for my Dogs.

Salisbury is good and may win the ccc. Ledford moved 2 back to QB so they will be better on offense. He is a playmaker for them.

Kids are in the hallways and yes, they need an RB bad. Running game is not there. Teams are bringing pressure with the blitz and off the edge and daring THS to throw the ball.

I saw the East Davidson/South Rowan score last night and shook my head. After ready an earlier post stating that the RB and TE were ejected along with defensive starters being benched, unbelievable is the only thing that I can say. I like my Golden Eagles but it looks as though we are going to be in for a long season. I have been saying this forever and a day it seems but the offense is too "PREDICTABLE". They line up in the exact same formation on every down and it makes it that much easier to play defense. The run defense is solid but the secondary needs work. I like Coach Hanner and the job that he has done at East over the years. There is one thing that I will have to admit though. When Coach Hines was there 2 years ago, I believe we went 6-5 if I'm not mistaken. The offense was fun to watch. He did a great job of mixing things up and keeping the defense off balance. I think that year, that was the first time I can remember in the school's history that a QB had passed and RB had gained over 1,000 yards in the same season. I know everyone is working hard over at East, it is just hard to watch sometimes.

You may be correct. I am looking forward to getting a look at Salisbury. The way in which Oak Grove wore North’s defense down last night, I’m kind of wondering if Central pops up and gets a win when they play.

Salisbury wasn’t all that impressive last night as they are very one dimensional. The QB can’t throw for anything or at least he couldn’t last night. He was missing easy throws and I mean overthrowing simple screen passes on several occasions. Thomasville has no size whatsoever as the starting middle linebacker is 5”5 130lbs. Central is really going to have their way offensively as all anyone has to do to Thomasville is pound the middle over and over. Offensively it doesn’t get a lot better for the dogs as the O-Line has really struggled. Thomasvilles QB is actually pretty good if he gets time in the pocket which he doesn’t very often.

Salisbury is the best team in the CCC top to bottom. Good size and great speed and a REAL defense. I'm expecting them and OG to battle for #1

After watching ND vs OG play, i truly believe those 2 teams will be the top 2 in the conference. If you were watching , i think it was evident that game could’ve went either way . Turnovers killed ND, while penalties hurt OG . I think if they play 10 times, it’ll be 5-5 or 6-4 one way or another . I just think they are extremely even and balanced teams. I haven’t seen Salisbury play, but hear they are much improved from years past.

Side note: I played in high school at ND and Holcomb was the HC while flynn was OC. They are both great guys and great coaches . That are different in the way they coach but both are effective . OG is here to stay and ND isn’t going anywhere . They’ll both makes runs this year in playoffs .

Salisbury was playing a linebacker at QB last week. Starting QB is a Carolina baseball commit. He can throw it. Not seriously injured.
