Catholic got out to another great start and never looked back. Catholic raced out to a 27-0 halftime lead on the back of four yes FOUR Brady Berger passing TDs. Three to John Newman and one to Jack Brigham.
It wasn't that the run game was not working, it was, but John Newman just would not be tackled and Jack Brigham took a screen down the sideline virtually untouched.
The Cougars dominated AK upfront all night long. Reid Brandt and Trey Lagaley were all over the QB from the first whistle on.
I will say AK was very chippy in this game. I think frustration was setting in. Lots of after the play stuff, throwing eachother to the ground, etc etc.
Not sure but I think there were 3-4 unsportsmanlikes in this game between both teams.
In the second half Catholic went to the run and stayed with the run. Brigham ripped off a massive run of at least 65 yards to really put the nail in AK's coffin.
Michael Neel had one of the nicer runs of the night a 12yrd sweep where he stopped on a dime and got into the endzone to make it 42-6.
One more score turned the game into a running clock affair.
Catholic is hitting their stride right now and I think should be one of the frontrunners for the 4A title. Their defense is getting better every week and the offense is firing on all cylinders.
With Dudley losing a CC win should get them the #1 seed.
