And things like that are the reason why not hiring stone was so baffling. Hales and stone preached avoiding unnecessary personal fouls. I was totally okay with the showboating and pregame antics, even though it wasn’t really Butlers culture. Players expressing themselves has never been a problem in my opinion, but you could tell that encouraging that behavior bled onto the field with unnecessary penalties. The potential was there no doubt. To take the Sc state runner ups and the 4a state champs down to the wire was impressive. They honestly did everything to win that irmo game, just ran out of gas. Curious to see how a couple more seasons with ferb would’ve played out. I don’t anticipate Hales to stay long term, but I do think he’ll play a part in the hiring of the next HC this time around.

Not sure how Ferebee would’ve done. The curiosity for me is to see what he would do this season with a team that was going to be young and not as talented.

The showboating and pregame antics can certainly be entertaining, but as you pointed out, they sometimes led to penalties that could have been avoided.
