Avery McMullin has been hired as the new head football coach and assistant athletic director at Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School. Coach McMullin previously served as head football coach and Asst. Athletic Director at The Tatnall School in Wilmington, Delaware and currently serves as the Head Football Coach at Thomas McKean High School in Wilmington, Delaware just outside of Philadelphia, PA.
Coach McMullin was a Division I quarterback at Delaware State University and broke records as a quarterback and captain at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, California.
At Tatnall School, Coach McMullin led the team to back-to-back State Tournament Semifinals in 2021 and 2022. He took over a struggling program at Thomas McKean and increased participation in back-to-back years and led the team to some of the biggest upsets in the state. He had 28 players selected all-district in just two years (2023-2024) and 46 total including his two years at Tatnall addition to 15 Academic All-State recipients. Prior to his time at Tatnall and Thomas McKean, Coach McMullin was Asst. Varsity and Head JV Football Coach at First State Military Academy from 2017-2020.
Coach McMullen holds a B.A in Sports Management and Physical Education and an M.S. in Sports Administration from Delaware State University
