Burlington Cummings vs Reidsville when Reidsville had the longest active winning streak in nation at 50 games….Cummings won
Shelby vs Pisgah 2006. Both teams were 14 and 0 going into Western Championship in Canton. Incredible crowd and atmosphere.
I remember calling Randy (sadly he passed away a couple years later leaving a game, wonderful fella) who was one of the radio guys for Pisgah right after this game and he said they estimated 14-15 thousand...Most amazing atmosphere i have ever witnessed personally... Those two teams left all on the field that night... Amazing ball game...
actually it was 55 game winning streak that Cummings snapped vs. Reidsville..................Reidsville/Clinton in the playoffs in 1998 was one of the biggest crowds at a Reidsville game I have ever seen.....................
1997 4th rd playoffs Shelby at Bandys turnout a huge crowd.

Reidsville v Cummings 2002 and Reidsville v Clinton 1998 come to mind real quick
Pisgah stadium is so big anytime they host a big game it’s gonna be close to double digit #’s in attendance. I go for the raffle $$$ lol.

I went to the last Pisgah - Tuscola game at Tuscola before covid. Intended to go back to Pisgah the following year but their stadium was damaged badly in that flood. The game I went to they estimated around 10-12 thousand. I got in a line on the visitors side 1-1/2 hours before they opened the gates. Probably 50-75 ahead of me. The Great American rivalry series was featuring the game and I think scholarships were awarded to a kid from each team. A fella sitting 3 rows in front of me won the 50-50. He sent his wife over to collect and it took a while but she came back and held up this huge wad of cash to him. He put his hand out and pushed her hand down and took it and put it in his pockets. Over 11,000.00 cash. 150.00 of it was mine!!! But I had a great time and still intend to go back to Pisgah to see the rivalry from there.
If I remember correctly. Maybe any Maiden fans can help me out here. But didn’t they move Maiden n Newton Conover game to Lenoir Ryne college. I believe it was around 1988. They were expecting a huge crowd. Seem like I remembered them talking about it where I work at the time.
I was there. What a crowd? Was this the night the little wooden hot chocolate stand burned down due to an overturned turkey fryer they were using to heat the water?
I was there that game too. Standing on the 2nd level of the bleacher when the crowd pushed the fence over.
Really glad someone from Shelby uploaded a copy onto YouTube. Best atmosphere I can remember for a high school game. I was standing somewhere in the endzone underneath the scoreboard. Lol

Yes…it was ‘88…hard to believe…moved a regular season game over to LR expecting 10,000 to attend….‘87, ‘88 were just a couple…of some great years in our area for high school football.
Newton Conover won the Southern District 7 both ‘87 and ‘88 while Bunker Hill finished 2nd and Maiden finished 3rd. All those games between the 3 teams were some great ball games that brought in people from the entire county.
