Whats everyone's thoughts on this game that has saw both teams play? With all due respect to a very good WC team, This game could be the deciding factor for who wins the MVAC.

EW is enjoying a well deserved season....struggled the past few years but hung together and it's paying off....Ashe and its size will be a test....will be checking Twitter on Friday night for updates

What's Ashe look like this year? Are they big up front and pass happy as they have been in the recent past? If so I say EW has to get some early stops on defense and control the clock. The team design is to control the line of scrimmage and wear opposing defenses down. I see line play being a big part of this game. Same could be said for the following two weeks.

The line for Ashe will be interesting. It will be interesting to see if they can hold up in pass protection or move us so they can run the ball. It is just so hard to run the ball against East. The line is sound and quick and they set the edge to funnel everything back inside.

I have been very impressed with Brice and his arm. It was cool that Ward got a snap in on Friday night.

After seeing their highlights from last year, I can see slip screens a draws hurting us if the D isn't gap sound. The down field threat is where they seem to make hay. The QB doesn't make a read it's more of a chunk and pray type of play. It looks like it could be a slug fest

I think the coach letting that Ward kid take a snap was a classy move, on his part.

As far as the game goes, for Friday, the guys have been improving each week. They know what needs to be done. I think it'll be a tough game, but as long as they continue doing what they've been doing, East will be just fine.

Big Question..? How will East Wilkes play if they fall behind early?? They haven't been behind or even tied this year at all except for the games 0-0 starting score..

Option teams tend to game plan to get you down early and at worst keep it close into the fourth quarter. I would expect a big defensive effort early and make Ashe uncomfortable. I wouldn't expect them to change what they do as long as it's no more than 2 scores early and let that veer do what it does to defenses.

WM, you got the homer part going on, I'll throw a score out there 28-14. That's give or take 35 for either team, good luck with Williams and company.

East JV's 46 - 6 over Ashe.

I saw last night what I think will be the key tonight. When the coaches only sent 3 guys after the QB he had time to find his guys down field. When East sent more than 3 he was rushed all night. That will be the key tonight, what kind of pressure can the Cards put on the QB. The game like all games will be won or lost in the trenches.

I will take East 34 - 14. I am being optimistic.

Pressure is key. The defense, as we've all seen, can lay some pressure on an offense. I'm not making any predictions. We just want a W.

The way the defense has played this year and the amount of push the line gets off the ball, I can see alot of pressure on the QB all night, granted I've not saw Ashe play, and i'm sure their O line probably has some size to them. Solely based upon the way I think and hope the EW defense plays, I'll take EW by 14. I just hope the turnover battle is in EW favor. You cant turn the ball over and expect to win big games.

The turnovers have be more favorable in recent weeks. Against Elkin one snap was fumbled and the rest of the game was super clean. I'd like to see all 11 within 2 yards of the line of scrimmage and bring heat all night but I'm sure we will see or base set with blitz and stunts often. Sure looks like a fun one with a cool breeze starting up.

EW fumbles punt at the 15 yd line ashe recovers and scores 4 plays later 28- 23 ashe
Stadium light delay 3x 25mn each...now 5:33 left in the game...

What a night. Two really good teams on the field. Ashe has size and decent speed.

Let's start with the bad, the lights just kept going out. I have been going to games at East for about 35 years and I have never seen anything like that.
The refs were so sorry. Both teams could leave the field with major beefs about the calls. Ashe best receiver was thrown out of the game. The ref on the spot called a 15 yard personal foul against #80 and another official came in and said the kid took a swing. No way did the kid take a swing. It seemed like every time East ran to the home side of the field they were called for holding. Bad roughing the passer call and then later pass interference. East fumbles a kickoff and the official blows the play dead right before the fumble is recovered by Ashe. That was a huge play that went against Ashe. Then to make matters worse they replayed the down instead of putting the ball in play were it was blown dead. They had a bad night.

East got hit in the mouth early as Ashe went down the field on the opening kickoff. East held them to a field goal and then went down and took a 7-3 lead. East got a stop when the turnover bug hit. #5 had a fumble and then at the end of the half #7 had a fumble. Ashe really played well and led 22-7 at the break.

Ashe stopped East on their first drive of the second half. Ashe moved the ball to around midfield when the QB fumbled the ball on a run. Hugh play in the game. East went down to score a touchdown to get within 8. Then East gets a pick. A few plays later the score again to make it 22-20.

With the ball back and Uncle Mo wearing red the lights go out again. When play resumes Ashe holds East to a field goal to give East a 23-22 lead. East forces Ashe to punt with about 8 minutes left and #5 mishandles the punt. A few plays later Ashe scores on the QB keeper.

With about 2:30 minutes left East completes a beautiful 55ish yard touchdown pass to #17. Two point conversion to Nance makes it a 3 point game. East executes a surprise onside kick and they recover. East converts on a 4th and 2 to then run out the clock. Game over at 10:59.

So much heart shown by both teams tonight. This will be a game neither team will forget for a while. It seemed like with each power outage Uncle Mo would switch sidelines.

One note to East. Throw the ball to #17 - Wood, more often. Teams do not even double him and that is open all night long. Make teams pay.

You will not win many games when you have 3 turnovers turned into 20 points. Need to clean somethings up, but GREAT WIN.

Now bring on the Rams and I am sad. I am out of town next week. I hope someone keeps the updates rolling.

Guys if throwing forearms would get you thrown out #50 for Ashe should have been tossed too. The kickoff after the field goal where the player for EW was down, was a throat punch on the ground. Refs where horrible holding calls in the first half and then the unsportsmanlike likes in the second. Like Real says it was bad both ways.

Ashe bought a few bad tempera with them..One of the Ashe players stepped on an East player that was on the ground after the play was over. Ref missed that too. Really and truly East should have won by 2 tds or so...I mean EW fumbles 2x inside the 5 and 10 yd lines..And muffs a punt giving ashe the ball at the 15 yd line. Ashe did a good job of bottling up some of the run game early..But that veer did what it is designed to do. Along with the huge 3rd down 60 yd td pass...It was then as my man Teddy Pendergrass sang.." "Turn out the lights"....no pun intended LMAO

Saw on facebook where EW's Jared Poplin was taken to Brenner's last night for a ruptured kidney. Thoughts and prayers to this kid. He was the one hurt during a kickoff or kickoff return I believe but got up under his own power and was able to walk away.

Definitely will say a prayer. This is a good example of needing above average officials for the bigger games, it looked like a frustration hit to begin with.

Sounds like that is serious, I pray he is ok. It is a reminder that this really is just a game.

Last update I seen was this morning. Seems his kidney is healing on its own, but he is still in the hospital and in quiet a bit of pain.
