Ashe County at North Surry

It'll be a good one I believe. Both us and Ashe have a lot of ? marks as a lot of teams do but we have a chance to iron them out on Friday. We scrimmaged well in my opinion last Friday as we did vs Reynolds. We got some room to grow but we still have 10 more weeks after this one for that.

The JV game will be fun as well.

I'm new to the thread but I'll give it a shot, from what I gather both teams run a similar air raid style offense and both teams have potential all state wideouts. Haven't really heard anything about the defensive side of the ball for Ashe or North. Look forward to being there Friday night, If I'm not mistaken they are calling for some weather Friday night so it could be a long night for both teams! Overall I believe North will come out on top, but will be a close game and will come down until the final minutes.

Right now WXII has it looking good Friday night, maybe some rain after the JV game and in the morning. Will be in the mid to low 80's if the wind stays away it could go perfect.

North's D will be different than what it has been in the last couple of seasons so it may be the change we need. Switched coaches and there' s a new enthusiasm around. Got some good kids coming up too from last year's JV squad. I was impressed after both scrimmages on both sides, just got to keep it together for 48 min.

Ashe won't be no pushover for sure so we need to be at our best.

I agree with you about the defense of North Surry, they have an all conference defensive lineman 3 returning starters at linebacker and potential all state safety along with 3 other fast and physical db's. I think this will be one of the best defenses we have seen at North Surry in a long time.Go Hounds!!!

It sounds like you know the team fairly well greydog, what's the outlook for the offensive side of the ball?

The offensive side of the ball is loaded with athletes. The quarterback has a strong arm and the ability to make things happen. The receivers start with an all conference senior and some juniors who can catch anything. The line will be smaller than most but they are gritty and strong,so I am very excited for this team this year

Agree 100% with greydog, eager to see how Ashe lines up defensively against our offense and how they plan to get their playmakers the ball, Brian Hampton has always been a good play caller and wouldn't be surprised if he came out with some trickery right off the bat.

I wasn't able to make it to all of the 7 on 7's, but I made it to both scrimmages and north was the best team on the field by far! Offense threw it around with ease and defense was making tackles that they have been missing in years prior.
