How could the offense get worse if they didn’t lose much? Is catholic really on the downfall to where they can only rely only on their defense to win games

Catholic lost a two year starter at QB and RG. Also lost a 3yr varsity player at RT and RB along with a FS/WR Adam Robbe who could break open games with his speed. They did lose a good chunk, but return a good chunk. We played two elite level teams, they had great defensive game plans, the offense will be just fine.

Btango usually has a great take on sports, but it's REALLY RICH to hear about "lack of tuition support" at CC being the reason they got beat by fellow catholic schools in other states.....even the best can be guilty of believeing thier own BS at times, in this case CC being hamstrung by NCHSAA "rules and regulations".....it's laughable to most who "pay attention"........Im very familair with St Thomas in Ft Lauderdale as my father lives about 5 minutes from thier campus. STA is definantly a member of the FHSAA and competes in thier playoffs..They were recently put on probation for recruiting tactics....everybody in Fl knows the deal with STA, similair to most in NC knowing the deal on CC.....it is what it is in both cases.....

First, I can assure you I am in no way affiliated with Charlotte Catholic. I try to make one regular season game a year because they are a top program in the state and usually play a few games against strong competition. I would have went to the Archbishop game but I was at Richmond for the Butler game. That game gave me insight the Catholic game would not have. This Friday I will be in Gaffney and that is more to answer questions about SC 5A.

Secondly, when I post it is about things that I am knowledgeable of. If not, my post will usually be questions.

I am not making excuses for Catholic or NC high school football, I am stating facts that I have learned from traveling from New Jersey to California to watch the best high school teams play. I am fairly well versed in the STA program admittedly more so in years past than current. Have been to multiple practices there as far back when George Smith was still the coach and seen them play in person twice. Stood on their sidelines as a guest of the progam at one game. I did not write they are not a member of the FHSAA and I can assure you the state of Florida and the FHSAA do not have the same rules as the NCHSAA. I listed several schools that I have visited and noted there are differences although each of the listed schools may not have the same options. An example for STA, they have had as many as six elite starters that transferred from a local high school for their senior football season. Admittedly that is not out of the ordinary for that area of Florida but for a private school it raises even more questions.

Bottom line, if you think the Parochial schools from most states are in an equivalent situation to Catholic and Cardinal Gibbons you are way off.

Why is Catholics offense struggling so much? I know they have played two great teams but they haven’t really moved the ball. I thought they didn’t lose many players on the offense from last years team

That may be correct but many said the same thing after they put up 17 and 7 in losses to RH Northwestern and Mallard Creek in 2013. Catholic lost to Dudley in the 4A west regional final that season. They put up 44 ppg between the MC loss and the regional title game. We will see how it plays out.

Planning on heading to Weddington on October 4th to see for myself. Should be a great contest.
