People need to stop assuming that non-power 5 teams are automatically food for Power 5 teams. App State, Marshall, Georgia Southern, and Georgia State all have really good players on their rosters. Georgia Southern and Georgia State recruit from their home state that is extremely deep with talent. App State has been pulling in kid after kid in the past few recruiting cycles that had Power 5 offers. Same for Marshall plus they have always brought in big time transfers. Throw in the chip on their shoulders that many of those teams bring in to those big money games in you have a recipe for disaster for those Power 5 teams overlooking the non Power 5 teams.
Appalachian State recruits the Carolinas but as far back as when I was there in the early 90s they were known to recruit Georgia very heavily. Georgia is known for having tons of talent.

Idk most of the nc football programs are pretty lumped together. No one really stands out to me

Yes Coach Jerry Moore definitely recruited Georgia extremely hard after he took over from Coach Woods. The depth of high end high school talent in Georgia is unreal.
I agree Wake has a running back that played at Buford. They always have D1 talent
Just for the record Wake Forest is booming right now, Nc State is in the top 20, Unc was just in the orange bowl 2 years ago. App is right in that mix, but I'm not sure who is top dog. App could be, but that's also your opinion.
I put Wake on top in the state definitely best head coach. Not many coaches can consistently win at Wake
Glad you said its okay to state the obvious. Mack Brown is 92-63-1 at UNC but like Doreen, he’s getting better I reckon
