Anson out of playoffs

Only two teams from Rocky River Conference makes playoffs. West Stanly and Mount Pleasant will be the two playing next week.

The two making the playoffs will probably be West Stanly and Montgomery Central in 3A....Mt Pleasant has an outside shot at playoffs if they upset West Stanly....West Stanly is a lock for a wild card if they take care of business against Mount Pleasant....and Montgomery Central gets an auto wild card in 3A as the uh...."3A division champion"......(I know)

North Stanly emptied their bench vs. SS in 2012 while down 30 points. The film was "lost" and there was no penalty from the association.

Well....when your record is 2-9, you kind of make yourself ineligible for the playoffs without the state having to impose a penalty....with that said though, the officials should have noted at least one (probably more) player that should have been ejected for fighting and ineligible for the next game or two....I suppose the film is to see specifically who left the sideline that was not already in the game....but if you get more than 3 guys ejected for fighting that were already on the field, then a team would be ineligible for playoffs even if nobody came off of the sideline

I believe Montgomery Central automatically makes the 3A playoffs (unless they opt out) as the "3A division winner"....I know, I know, they're the only 3A in the conference....but they would be seeded at bottom with wild cards, and not conference champions because they neither have a .500 record nor finished in top 3 in conference
Don’t know this officially, but word at the first of the season was that Montgomery Central would play in the 3A playoffs, but only if they finished in the top three in the conference. Part of the agreement to let them combine a year early.
Can anyone confirm?

I hope our kids react with the calm face!
Yes I remember the big Thomasville/Albemarle games from the early 2000s...went to watch one at Cushwa Stadium, 2002, Albemarle won a defensive struggle 14-7....the year before I believe Thomasville won the regular season game but Albemarle won 2nd Rd playoff game on the way to state championship; always sad to see traditionally good programs struggling for a time after being so good for a stretch, good to see more than 2 teams compete for 1st place in conference this year

Think I remember the same scenario when they combined schools. If that is true they could finish tied with Mt Pleasant for third but Mount would own the tiebreaker by heating MC.

Hmm....that could be the case....now that you mention it, I do believe there was some stranger than normal caveat for them......but if they do get in, they would most definitely be seeded with the wild cards and the true conference champions

But it would have to be a three way tie for third, with Forest Hills and Mount Pleasant....i'm not going to try to tackle the 3A/3AA playoff picture though, heard from more than one that it's quite a headache....already branched out enough looking at 1A/1AA in addition to 2A/2AA this year

I know that I heard that too. I’ve been searching all over and can’t find anything to confirm it though.

It would be been appropriate to set something in place that would have required something like that though. It is never good when a sub-.500 team gets a playoff bid.

On a different note, I was sort of stunned that Montgomery Central only has 1060 students this year. I was guessing that they’d start off around 1200 kids.
