Unless Monroe does something stupid, they will in all probability be the 2A state champion, however they will still have to beat Forest Hills maybe twice, which is not a given.
Looks like SWE is teetering right near the middle. I would love to go A this time, and yes I'm saying that because it appears to be easier. Hell, our rivals Tarboro feasted on 2A for five straight years, getting to the championship game each year, while we got shown the door in the 2AA bracket. And look at them now....can't get past rd 3 in 1AA. And it would also mean avoiding Washington, a team that just has our number.
A nice final four in 2AA would be HP Andrews vs Clinton and Monroe vs East Lincoln. There is a chance of Monroe also going east as well.
Sending Monroe and HPA east would be a wrap for the east. I know easterners will be offended but it will be wrap. Ideal would be Shelby vs EL for west and HPA vs Monroe for east, but probably won't happen.

Very true. East Lincoln and Coach Byus could care less who is in their bracket. East Lincoln would match Shebly score for score. The defenses would determine that game. Chazz Surratt would be the best athlete on the field and it wouldn't be close. It's not going to happen so it's not a discussion.
Shelby is #49 out of 98 (2A) teams. If you split it down the middle based on ADMs, Shelby would be the smallest (2AA) team. But, it's not quite that simple.
Depending on who gets in, Shelby could be be on either side of the fence.
Who was the last team to beat East Lincoln...I believe the Monroe boogeyman is coming for you....just a little Halloween humor
And we never will. Winning streaks are about being good but more importantly about the level of competition you play. Consistently playing Crests and Freedoms and Reynolds and South Points and Kings Mountains and Burns (although down this year) would never allow you to have any type of winning streak. EL has played what 2 teams with a winning record this season?
We don't win them all....we just win more than anyone else. I'll take that any day over a winning streak.

Chazz is legit no doubt, but with Shelby yeah I agree, Shelby has some athletes that match up.
No doubt about that but no way Shebly has at least 3 more better athletes than Chaz. So you basically have at least 3 ***** star recruits. Mallard Creek can't even say that. Yes you have more athletes but keep it at that. Dont exaggerate things. You still have the best team in 2a but I doubt you'll find 3 better athletes in Cleveland co better than Chazz and I'm not associated with EL at all. But that's crazy and hard to believe
98 I'm sure you remember the 97 semifinal game with Norris and company went down to Bandys.And we all thought this game would get ugly with all our athletes.Fought for our lives that night to win that game.
Clear and simple,,, East has Chazz (I will say the SMARTEST player I have seen play), Sage(good hands, blocker for Chazz and the running back, and awesome speed) THE D knows how to flat out tackle.....on the other side you have Shelby (and that is all I need to say because well, it's Shelby.... a complete team)....do I think Shelby will demolish East in a head to head game, NO....BUT A WIN IS A WIN!!!!.....just to bad that all Shelby has to look forward to is probably Lincolnton and Reidsville in the playoffs unless the nchsas sees the potential of this being a monstrous western final....then I take L-Town to win west in little 2a.
I've seen both Shelby and East Lincoln, this year. The game I saw, Shelby had the stronger opponent in South Point, and East, had Lincolnton. I believe the Lions and Mustangs would match up well. I don't know who would win. Their defenses reminded me of each other. They have size, speed and they swarm to the ball. I also believe East has the best athlete in Surratt but contrary to popular opinion East has quite a bit more than him, and he is a game changer. Shelby isn't a one-man show, either, as both are total packages. What's bothersome, to me, is these two will probably not play due to classification. That would be this year's dream match in 2A.
- Dax Hollifield has been offered by Clemson, NC State, Duke, UNC, and Wake Forest. He has been on visits to several other schools including Notre Dame. He is a Sophmore.
- Antwan Wright was All-State as a Sophomore. He was inactive last year which hurt his recruiting, but he is back on the field this year and is a game changer. He is probably the best athlete on the team.
- Jayden Borders has offers from UNC and App. He leads the state in receiving TDs. He is a Junior.
- Darquez Lee leads the state in TD passes. He is a senior but did not start at QB as a Junior due to RJ George being the 1st string QB. His offers are beginning to role in but because of not playing QB last year, he was not on recruiters lists.
- Damonte Poole leads the state in INTs with 9.
This list doesn't include Calvin Camp, Juwan Sims, Jaquavis Brooks, Michael Carson....all incredible athletes.

Really? The team didn't. They were undefeated for a reason....they had some talent....we knew that. We played Shelby football and won.
