The town of Waxhaw originally belonged to Parkwood. As the population of the county grew, schools were added to the county; Marvin Ridge being the first that affected Waxhaw, as it sheared off the northern parts, just outside the city limits. Cuthbertson was built a few years later, taking much of Waxhaw with, although the redistricting that occurred last year gave Parkwood most of the town of Waxhaw back.
