A school without a conference.

If we loose Graham and Cummings, that leaves us with BY, School of the Arts, School of Math and Science. We're in trouble for a conference.

don't forget mighty Carrboro......Guess I'm slow on the story above.....what does it mean?? School closings....I never heard that mentioned...................

It means the winner of the BY vs Reidsville game will be the conference champion and a #1 seed for the playoffs.:(

My biggest concern is the lack of opportunity to bring in revenue. Our conference games are a joke and the gate will show it. Football pays for everything as the old saying goes.

The jv schedule is suffering now. It will get worse. I guess they could always play the Raiders.

On the positive side, if Graham and Cummings cease to exist then that will open up the games they have scheduled with the other Alamance County teams like W. Alamance and Burlington Williams.

If we could pick up W. Alamance that would be a very good gate and series.

If we lose Graham and Cummings it will be impossible to schedule 11 games on varsity with a 3 team conference, because every other team in the state will be in conference play when we need some more games. The state will have to do something unless they just want to completely screw Reidsville.

If people didnt think Reidsville played anyone before... now Reidsville literally might not be playing anyone.

Im hoping something can be done to either postpone this 4 years for next realignment, or readjust some area conferences and one absorbs Reidsville (and BY). Carrboro can go join a conference in their area like they should be in anyway.

For the conference idea, there are only two possibilities

1- A 2A/3A split conference- Rockingham, McMichael, Morehead, Reidsville, BY, NE Guilford, Western Alamance would be the best geographical option. It would take some readjusting of existing 3A conferences in the area, but not likely.

2- Add to the "Randolph County 2A Conference. Given that Eastern Randolph and Providence Grove made such a stink to get out of Reidsville conference, I doubt this would happen.

Im really just grasping at straws at this point.

I think the "stink" was in part due to the hour and 1/2 drive to Reidsville(Google says hour and 5min but that does not take into account HWY 29N around 5pm on a weekday in a bus) at a time when budgets were being cut for travel. Also playing county teams more rivalry as many have pointed out all over this board.

Now our longest drives are Andrews and Wheatmore at 40 minutes and change. Even with the addition of JM the drive is 10 min from ER and 20 from PG. Just makes more sense logistically.

I also think that if does come to pass the NCHSAA needs to let those teams be absorbed into one of their proposed conferences.

rockingham county needs to redraw lines as well to balance out enrollment, not to close schools.rchs is overcrowded and rhs is under. schools only six miles apart. board could do a much better job with this.

All one system in Rockingham county. I was thinking Reidsville was a city system?

Reidsville won't be the only school in the state in that situation. East Surry and Mount Airy are in the same boat with Bishop, South Stokes, North Stokes, and WS Prep. One never knows of Prep will field a team and NS dropped they're program last year for the season.

For decades Reidsville and Mt. Airy were in the same conference from the 30's until 1970...used to be a big rivalry game....Roads were a lot worse back then.....much easier trip now.....Would love to see a series start up again between these two///////////////////////

most all the 1A and 2A conferences in the greater Triad are a complete cluster when you really think about it

Right mule, they won't do it and won't stop transfers to the garden of Eden that is in Wentworth. But why not fix it? Tell me why?

Are they afraid of offending "elitists" in the county or do they just want to see Reidsville as a school fail? They as in the school system.
