A must watch!

Witherspoon is a great running back that in this conference could have rushed for thousands of yards and broken a lot of records. He is however just another stud in the backfield full of studs. It speaks alot for him to split the carries with all the other backs, each one of them compliments each other. One could argue the fact that jones is just as good as witherspoon, but runs in a different style. I will also add that it if your offensive line cant block, then you cant run...again,,, this is a good team that seems to work as a team

We have to play West Caldwell they’re in county! We had contracts with Newton and J.Robinson! Ashe has been an opponent for years because they run the spread and pass all over everyone! Robinson made semis last year and well Newton is Newton but we thought both would be good opponents!

And to me Shelbys offense is better right now then last year..

Any teams offense was better than Shelby's year. The offense relied on the quarterback and ONE running back. That said, it's a big accomplishment to make it to the regionals riding on a quarterback and ONE running back.

747, yes because our Defense carried us last year..
This year defense is good, not as good as last but good.
But our offense right now is clicking, in passing game, if Bess gets time .
Running game comming slowly.
We got great chance to make deep run

So would you guys say that right now shelby is better than south point? I would say last year at this time it was the other way around, and either one of you beating each other twice would have been tough. I also felt like hibriten shelby last year would be a 50/50 game if they had played 10 times.

We are better at passing, not better at running because DA DA was a stud. We are stronger in the secondary, about the same on D line and not as good at LB without Dax imo. So in some ways better but other ways not as good if that makes since. SP is not as good defensively as last year and their offense is not quite as good but close. How about y’all?

I would say so. Shelby is clicking on offense right now and Bess is gaining confidence and a little bit of swagger. Defense is playing good and getting after it. I would not want any part of Shelby in the next few weeks.

I think were better offensively and not as good defensively as last year. We won't know alot until a good team hits us in the mouth.

IMO Hibriten is a lot better offensively than they were last year, more weapons and the qb is playing and making better decisions. They have been able to platoon alot so most everyone seems fresh and healthy. I would say they still cannot afford any injuries at this point. I think defensively they are still waiting that big challenge, most of the points scored have been on long pass plays, out of positon, or on the secnd or third string. They do not seem to tackle quite like they did last year, as i have seen a lot of missed tackles this year,, but they have mackey,, and he can change that in one off week. I did see something friday night i dont know if i have ever seen from a hhs qb,,, passed for over 100yds,, and looked good doing it...:) IF that continues then look out that offense may be really hard to stop.

DAX was a man among boys, he was everywhere in the regional finals,,, But so was Hibrtiens middle linebacker that was fun to watch those two.

Tasinari (sp?) and Haney were monsters at LB!!! I think Marqwone at running back adds a dimension to the offense. Let the D queue up on Gee or Sky and let Qwone take it to the house!

That still does not change the fact that HIBRITEN plays one of the weakest schedule around.

And we still manage to win a state championship? Plus multiple regional finals? Wow maybe they should play a tougher schedule and change absolutely nothing? Or the other teams they play might just need to get better!! I can remember growing up watching hibriten play and they were terrible, probably will be that way again someday. But as of right now they play who they play, regular season, playoffs whomever no matter.

I asked the question just because for all year it seemed like everyone was down. Both shelby and south point lost some early games but both seemed to have recovered nicely. I look forward to one or maybe both coming to lenoir this year, its time for this hibriten team to be challenged i think they have what it takes to play with both sp and shelby , and these kids dont seem to back down from the challenge. Total respect for shelby and sp, just glad hibriten is finally getting in the mix.

Hibriten and South Point both are teetering on small 3A numbers(not to mention ED and ND). 3A teams are pretty hard to knock off in the 2A playoffs. Remember Huss and Northside Jax

We killed Monroe before they went back to 3a in 2017?

I do not know that our middle school team could maybe beat half of those teams or give them a good game.

To be honest, college coaches and recruiters do take into consideration(this is no where near a deciding factor but is taken into consideration) the competition a player plays against, which is why bigger schools or consistently winning small schools who play bigger schools get certain looks.

Your Shelbys, Reidsvilles, South Points, Lincoln County small schools, tend to play larger schools often, which gets them seen alot more compared to other smaller schools.

For example an Ohio State recruiter or coach would come down to see a MC vs Hough or Shelby Crest game instead of going to see the best running back in South Dakota who has a million yards.. because of the competition level.

Yep. I saw it all too often at Travel Basketball tournaments. There are more recruiters at Travel Ball tournaments than any high school basketball games. I wish there was some league for football similar to Travel Basketball or Baseball. I think the level of competition would increase if the young men played at a higher level on a consistent basis. I know the money for equipment and the size of the teams would make it cost prohibitive in most cases. I guess the point is, recruiters go where they can maximize the use of their time. It is NOT at the local high school where a 4.6 40 yard time leaves everyone in the dust, they would rather go to where they can see players on BOTH teams playing at a high level and look for standouts among stiff competition.

Man...when he kicks it into that extra gear it looks like everyone else is running in sand sometimes. I was trying to think back, and I honestly don’t recall him getting run down from behind except Friday against Shelby (albeit from a slight angle).

He will be missed for sure next year.

From a Shelby guy....hes a special player... Should be a D1 back...Good luck to him
He is a great player. You take him out of the game Friday night and Hibriten would have been lucky to score and probably would not have 100 total yards. He will be greatly missed. I rate him with Harbison of Crest a few years back.

I agree Shelby74, he is one of those backs that dont come around often in these parts. SHELBY and CREST get these types every few years, but this unifour area only sees it every great once in a awhile.

I really think he might be a once in a coaches career back. Every time he touches the ball you think he is going to the house. Have seen a few like him but not many around here.

BJ Emmons signed with FAU for the second time yesterday. Still some things to finalize but hopefully he will be enrolled in a couple of weeks.
