This is a big game at Wake Forest. These teams are about as even as even can be. Heartbreak Hotel is going to be the residence of one of these teams on Friday.

Garner comes into this game with a record of 13-1 after a season opening loss to Middle Creek. They are riding a 13 game winning streak. Wake Forest comes in sporting a 14-0 record and their 14 game winning streak. Both are trying to make it back to the state title game. Garner's last visit was 2011, where they lost to Page 35-21. Wake Forest made it to the big game last season, losing to Mallard Creek 59-21.

These two teams have five common opponents. Garner defeated Broughton 63-13 and Wake Forest took them 60-20. Interestingly Garner and Wake Forest beat Cary by the identical score of 48-0. Wake Forest beat East Wake 27-18 and Garner defeated them 33-21. Rolesville had the pleasure of playing these two teams, losing to Garner 63-12 and Wake Forest 61-20. Wake Forest defeated Wakefield 58-12, while Garner defeated them 37-7

Garner, for the season, is scoring 44.79 ppg and giving up 13.64. Wake Forest is scoring 42.50 ppg and allowing 13.79. In the playoffs, Garner is scoring at a 37.67 ppg clip and allowing a stingy 6.33 ppg. Wake Forest is scoring 38.33 ppg and giving up 18.87 ppg.

The big question in this game is the condition of Garner's and Wake Forest's top ground gainers. You have Nyheim Hines of Garner and Bryce Love of Wake Forest. Hines, for the year, has 2,286 yards and 38 touchdowns, while Love has 1,845 yards and 31 touchdowns. Himes has been nursing a knee bruise for the last three games and Love injured his shoulder in last week's win over Millbrook.

Wake Forest is on a mission after last season's loss to Mallard Creek. On the other hand, everyone is on a mission at this point of the playoffs. Hines has had a chance to rest his knee. Love has been listed as day to day. A shoulder injury can be tough to overcome in one week. I expect both of these backs to play.

The home team usually has an advantage in these games. But, I think Garner will enjoy their visit to Wake Forest. Garner by 3

Love was out for maybe half of the second quarter. Otherwise he was full tilt. He finished with 228 yards on 16 carries and 2 TDs.
