2nd draft released

If it's one thing you'll learn from this site, it is absolutely impossible to make everyone happy. There's either too many divisions (now 8) or not enough (since we have schools with 300 kids in the same division with schools that have 600 kids). Playoff seeding isn't fair because "insert anything you want here that goes against your team". We didn't know the formula for MaxPreps so that "wasn't fair". Now we use RPI with an outlined mathematical formula and that still isn't fair. There are plenty of other issues discussed on this site that people complain about, but you get the idea. Like someone said, it's a domino effect, you move one school to a different conference and that probably causes issues so you have to move another and then another.... As bad as the NCHSAA can be at times, I would assume they aren't out to get any individual school.

I don't envy the realignment committee's job at all. A close friend of mine who is a retired school administrator, served on the realignment committee once back in the early 2000's. He said it's one of the most difficult things he's ever worked on, and among the most thankless.

One thing that he related to me, and what I see reading all the criticism being levied on this thread and others... a lot of the comments on here are based on what the proposal recommends for specific conferences, counties, or schools, but if you look at the job they've got, it's a house of cards. One change may make things better for one school or conference, but that one change also may have a ripple effect that creates hardships for several other schools or conferences.

I agree that it ain't perfect, but what is? 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️
People see the micro view, which is their school and surroounding areas. The ripple effect of moving a shool can cause more severe consequences for the schools that are in the conference that schools removed.

We live in a world in which everyone has tunnel vision and only worries about their world. Sometimes it's selfish. We forget there is a whole other world out there and as said, one minor move can create a wave.
