Huge second round game with TCR hosting Catholic. Catholic beat TCR a few weeks back.
2nd round is too early for these two to have to meet. No automatic top seeding for conference winners next year will help prevent that from happening

Did the ER and Dudley game go the full number of innings or was it a mercy rule?
It was a mercy rule. I believe from what I saw East Rowan went up 11-1 in bottom of 6th inning.

They played this year already at TC Roberson and Catholic defeated TC Roberson. These two played in the western final last year as well. If there was a game in the state to pick to go watch, I’d go see this one! College commits and pro prospects all over the field!
Hate to see TCR and Catholic and Reagan and W. Forsyth have to play each other so early in the playoffs. All have great teams and it would be nice to see them meet a little later on in the playoffs. The seeding for baseball doesn't make much sense to me. Seems like W. Forsyth and Reagan are both too low and should have better seeds. Not sure if record is the only thing taken into account? But both games should be fantastic. I hope someone will put clips of both of them on YouTube. Baseball is a funny game. West is very good but was lucky to get past an Ardrey Kell team that is seeded way down there. Something you never see in the NCHSAA football playoffs. Such a low seed giving a high seed all they can handle.
High seeds W. Forsyth and Rockingham Co. both had close calls! I saw in the east bracket a #32 team beat a #1 seed. You never know in baseball since pitching can be such a wild card. If a kid really has everything working and is sharp on the mound, a very low seed can give a high seed a lot of problems.
Yes, someone asked earlier how many commits TCR had and I named 3-D1 guys but forgot about JT Smith who is going to Wofford. All the guys I have named are seniors that are committed. It is very realistic to assume TCR currently has 6-7 future D1 guys on this years roster some just haven’t committed yet as Sophs and juniors.
Asheville High also had some studs to get bounced out early Trent Maybin, Cameron’s son and then the Secretarski brothers will both play high level baseball.
Roberson advance to Round 2 as we will host Charlotte Catholic on Thursday, May 8 at 6:30 PM at Holmes-Smith Field.
All sports go off of conference champs and their RPI which is (0.3 x Winning percentage) + (0.4 x opponents WP) + (0.3 x opponents, opponents WP). All conference champs are seeded first based on their RPI and then all other auto qualifiers and wildcards are seeded after based on their RPI.
Next year conferences won't matter and RPI changes to .4xWP + .4xOWP + .2xOOWP. So the top "X" number of teams for that sport will make the playoffs and be seeded only on RPI.
If conferences didn't matter this year and we went just off of RPI (I can't find the individual break down of WP, OWP, OOWP, so just using this years formula) Reagan would actually be 7 seed and WF would be 8th seed. AK would have been 28th.

Ashley beat Apex Friendship 4-3. This game went in 10 innings. They will advance to the 3rd rd. They will play the winner of Laney n Millbrook next week

TCR would have all pitching available. It looks like Catholic would be down O’Rourke but they didn’t toss him the last time these two met and TCR did toss Simpson.
TCR also did NOT play some of their normal starters the last time these two met. A few kids in the lineup that day that pretty much only played that game all year. Rest, injuries, don’t show your cards playoff strategy,….🤷
