The theme for the tournament is "Fans in the Stands". We welcome all American Legion baseball fans from all the teams to Cherryville. We are doing everything we can to make it a pleasant experience for everyone.

All kids who are currently participating in or have participated in any organized baseball or softball activities this season get in free when accompanied by a paying adult. They just need to wear their team jersey.

It's going to be hot. We will have a 20 by 40 foot cooling tent with large fans for those who need to cool off for a few minutes. There will lots of cold drinks available around the ball park and great concessions prepared by the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

There have been lots of improvements made to Fraley Field since last year...new fencing including a new padded outfield fence, fencing closing off the bull pen areas, new batting cage, new digital display scoreboard, additional rest room facilities, and several cosmetic changes. There are American flags displayed across the top of all the bleachers. We encourage all to come and check it out as we celebrate and promote American Legion baseball.

Linkman, heard you and D. Eaker doing a broadcast earlier this season. You’ve become really good at it.

If Rutherford County can take care of Union, the crowds will be even bigger with them, Shelby, and Cherryville all being there. Easy drive makes it that much more attractive.

Sounds like Shelby vs Union in 1 game matchup for Area IV title since both are in state tourney.

RC was up 6-1 in the 7th. Union scores 8 runs and wins 9-6. Unbelievable.
Wonder if Union County used Potts against Rutherford, last night. If so, Shelby would have an advantage, this evening, since they will more than likely pitch Putnam who would still have a six day rest if he were to start on opening day of the state tournament.

Potts did pitch last night.

I believe the gametimes have been changed for some reason. Area IV #1 Shelby plays at 1:00 now. Per Richard Walker.

Wilmington Post 10 travels to Hamlet Post 49 tonight for the Area II championship. Winner will be Area II seed 1. Loser will get the 2nd seed.

Back in the day, (1970-1980s) this matchup was a regular for the Area championship and featured great coaches. Post 10 - Buck Hardee and Post 49 - George Whitfield.

Post 82 is at 4.
Post 82's game is at 1:00. I just got that verification from Richard Walker who said he accidently switched game times for games 2 and 3 in the first bracket he sent out. What he sent out last is correct. Good catch Lincolnton. I have changed it in this thread.

Okay. Got a text this morning that looked like an official legion doc that said 4. I know Coach Ruff has seen 2 different brackets. Whatever it is, should be a great tourney.

I seen where Cobb Hightower was drafted by San Diego Padres 3rd Rd. Congratulations to the young man. I wish him the best. He was outstanding player for East Rowan. He also is committed to UNC.

A lot of familiar names this year. Should be another good tournament. The weather doesn't look promising. It'll be interesting to see how that effects the games.

I think High Point, Cherryville and Union County have been eliminated.

Wilmington, Garner and Hamlet are 1-1.
Garner plays Hamlet later today in an elimination game. Winner plays Wilmington.

Wayne County and Shelby are 2-0 and play later today.

I think this is correct.
