2022 Max Preps 2a rankings

Like most rankings they are just going off last year. They don’t take into consideration youth, transfers etc. the cream will rise by week 5. As far as Shelby goes I don’t think they will have much trouble with ACR. They have a solid D but no offense. If Shelby can score 14 they will win. I don’t see that being a problem either. ACR is in decline. I know I will catch it for saying so but just watch. Hopefully my Horses are on the way back up. It sure is looking like we may be. It’s been miserable for the most part since Ford retired

MaxPreps always does a terrible job with these preseason rankings. First mistake I see is having Northern Guilford ranked the highest in their county and they are like the 4th-5th best. If chambers is 1 then Dudley is arguably 1 or top 2. They ranked Clinton lower than some teams that’s questionable. I guess that’s what the games are played for though so we will see.

Yeah Northern is def behind Dudley and Grimsley. But I guess they could be third in the county

The doubt in Maiden is obviously bc of QB position.

I'm very interested in seeing the change in everyone's tune once we start burning people. I'm not saying doubt is unwarranted...but this much doubt is disrespectful to every other senior on the team that has busted their asses for 3 years.
Every team has seniors that have played 3 years. Doesn't mean the team should be thought highly of.

I'll rephrase...this group of seniors...a majority of them have started on varsity for the past two years...two years with only two losses..

They deserve more credit than their QB graduating and dropping like they did.

East Davidson at #19 in the West. Hmmm.......

Should be a pretty good game in Climax this Friday night. I'm gonna be really interested to see who is behind center for PG.

I could see us taking a lump or two in the non-conference or regular season, but when it comes to 2a teams

There wont be many that can match the line play (both side of ball) we will be bringing to the table this year...

That coupled with the firepower on the offensive side of the ball, we will be hard to stop..

We may have to outscore teams this season, but it should be another great year......Burns, Maiden, Reidsville, Monroe. WRH, Clinton etc etc etc will have something to say about it.....But they all know to get to the top they are going to have to beat us..... Not being egotist, being honest and realistic and they all know it...
I ain’t buying the lump or two…I just don’t see it happening.

However….I will buy some of those Crest 50/50 tickets if you happen to run across a few.😂😂😂

just saying.

Y’all throttled them last year…they did seem to improve especially with that big win against Thomasville….but y’all might as well go ahead and beat them again.

I think you will.😉

I hope so. It'll be interesting. As far as skill players, I think PG will be in pretty decent shape. I'm just concerned about the trenches.

I saw on social media the mother for the Lions midget team was super excited that her son made weight for being a ball carrier. I had totally forgotten about weigh-ins.

That kid is going to be special, too. They take that weight thing seriously. You don’t make weight, you get a stripe on your helmet, and you can’t run the ball in any capacity. I remember Dax Hollifield as a youth player, and he always being over the limit to run the ball.

We've lost by 2 to you guys the last couple years. We've been so close but haven't got over the hump. Normally we play Shelby tough. Hopefully we can take care of business this year. But we have a long way to go in order for that to happen. With it being the last week of the year, barring injuries, that will give our O-Line time to gel. That looks to be one of our weaker areas early on.

yeah, your team seems to have this choke habit, where you play good for 8 plays then something silly happens

I wouldn't say we have a choke habbit. I think in the past our lack of depth has really hurt us as it got later in the game and season. It's hard for us to overcome injuries too. When you say choke, I think of that as we had the lead late and then couldn't hold them off. But that hasn't been the case. Really, we've just been beat by a better team.

The dreaded red stripe ha ! Not only can they not run the ball , they have to play tackle to tackle hand on ground! Can’t be in kickoff teams , and if they recover a fumble it’s dead right there !!!

there were a few monsters one being 266
Lbs …

Yep! Take Dax for example, even in youth ball, he was special, and all that you mentioned applied to him. It wasn’t until middle school when that no longer applied to him, and he was a hellacious fullback.

That kid mentioned in the Lincolnton poster’s post is coach Damon Scott’s son, and that kid is going to be special. He plays quarterback.

Let's just make sure some of those kids come to Burns please. Thanks.

The county as a whole is in great hands. These kids today have things accessible to them that we “old heads” couldn’t ever imagine having in our youth, personal trainers galore, gyms and what not. I guess that’s everywhere now, but Cleveland County is definitely good. Dobson Collins, Shamar Finney, Michael Allison, to name a few. Those guys are making a difference with college athletes on down.

ok

When you got inside the 5 against Shelby, instead of giving the ball to a hot Norris, you attempt to pass, and have to settle for three. Or, was it a turnover on downs? I forgot, but Chopper is talking about situations like that.
Well if he's referring to offensive play calling, then I agree. Lol. Hopefully our new OC will do a little better with that.

I don't see us ( West Craven) being in the discussion. Our numbers are down and when you have no depth it makes for a long season. We did look ok against Kinston but then we looked bad against White Oak. Hopefully we can get things turned around but this ranking is not realistic for us. Speaking of Kinston I think they will face struggles also. They are having to work in a new QB from what I heard.

I don't think anybody saw West Craven in the discussion until your post.

Morning Otis🤠

I’d be surprised if West Craven doesn’t win their conference and gets one of those top 10 seeds for the playoffs.

Y’all will be there! Otis. 😜

Max preps must know something I don’t. No way should JK be over Clinton. I like Otis’s WC Eagles ranked up there. Clinton should be 7th or higher. Week 2 game is big for both WRH and Clinton but Clinton’s biggest game is St Paul’s. St Paul’s should be ranked higher. WRH biggest will be ED and JK.
I think ED is the biggest for yall. I don't see james Kenan putting up a good run with yall
