Any chance that the new Richardson Stadium that UNC-Charlotte built for their new program could play host to a couple championship games in the future? That stadium is new and much smaller than these other venues which would be ideal for a high school game atmosphere. Plus, Charlotte is a pretty good location and has all the accommodations anyone could want.

Teams from down east woukld have a fit.

Don't see how it's any worse for them than going to Winston Salem. I wouldn't want the 4A or 4AA games to be there, just because you'd be pretty likely to be playing a home game for the west team...but in 1A or 2A where the crowds are smaller and neither team is from Charlotte, it'd be good.

As far as 2A & 2AA... Shelby, East Lincoln, and Lincolnton might have a slight advantage if it were played @ UNCC :D

That's true, but at least it isn't right in their back yard, and it isn't all but guaranteed to be one of those schools. It's about the same as the advantage East Surry has with the 1AA finals at Wake ...they have a decent shot at making it and it's pretty close by. I think it's a little different than playing 4AA in Charlotte, where the west rep has been a Charlotte school 90% of the time since the division was created.

I think it is fair to say that Greensboro is geographically the middle of the state for high school sports, at least east to west and very simple with I-85 and I-40 making it simple to access from anywhere in the state. UNC Charlotte's stadium is about 15 miles farther from NC A&T than Carter Finley.

I would like to see 1A go to four rounds and play the week before the other three classifications. Give them their own weekend and let them play at a smaller venue that would give some energy to the crowd. Simeon in High Point, County Stadium in Durham which is as far east as I would want them to go, and Elon may all work. UNCC would be a good venue but I think going to The Triad is an easier drive for most 1A teams.

UNC is a really nice venue once you EVER GET THRU TRAFFIC to the stadium. Carter Finley is the easiest to get in and out of and a super nice facility. Wake is good to. A triple header at Wake on 12/12/15 would be something to see.
